Some on here have slated him since he arrived, never given him a chance.

Others - including myself - have backed him all the way. Do these pre-season goals mean anything? Not really, not in the grand scheme of things. But for Bent himself it's huge.

If we play 4-2-3-1 he would be simply perfect as the one.

last season we seen him trying to link up with queen & berba, passing instead of shooting but as you say in a 451 with him as the lone forward all he has to do is score and thats what he's good at, with modders, gio, lennon, bentley.....and arshavin (please god) he will score fook loads

agreed that formation would be mint for him, i watched the norwich game live and he was brill. He could be the main striker all season but we need to have other strikers in case he gets injured.

YAY bent supported you when you arrived and im sure youll do well

This must have done his confidence the world of good and have the new boys wondering what all the fuss of Keane & probably Berbs is all about...

Evidently they like playing with Bent!

What I like about Bent is the fact that he applauds every attempted pass to him!He always encourages his team mates and people respond better to a bit of praise!
Not like some I could mention!

Correct me if i'm wrong but did he not score a few during last season's pre season?

Not that i'm slating him. I am one of those rarities that has always believed he could do well. He had a great scoring record a Chorlton and his goal to game ratio for Spurs aint that bad either....he just hasn't had too many games!

I have said it before and will say it again.....Darren Bent is young, has pace, and can strike a helluva ball.......give him a chance and he will produce the goods, as he is now doing!

Interestingly, no Berbatov on the teamsheet again tonight.....but, hey, we had Bent instead :)

Yes - but not 9 in 4 games.

The guy's becoming more confident by the game. It just proves with a bit of patience he could be legendary. Roll on next season.

Yeah, and 4 against Norwich. The better the opposition, the more he scores. You just watch and weep as he bangs 19 past Arsenal next year.

You're seriously sinking the pride of Tottenham when throwing that word around you like it means nothing.

Legend.....maybe scoring a 100-125 over 5-6 seasons might do it.

Makes me glad he scoring though and perhaps starts to payoff. We'll see what happens when it really begins aug 16. Hopefully he can continue to produce! :)

Went to the Orient game East Stand block q health number of yids let down by one drunken yob, it took 15 police officers to turf him out.

On the game, first half was a bit of a write off but the obvious class factor was evident in Luka Modric. First time watching him live, his the real deal. Receives the ball well and finds little pockets in mid also selection and weight of pass, both quality.

Bale convinced me last season and I'm still convinced, best position is on the left wing where he played all of the game (O's) before being subbed in the second half. IMO we don't need to buy Capel.

Zokora played centre back with Dawson and looked comfortable (not really tested) showed his adaptability along with Huddlestone, as both played right back and centre back in the second half respectively.

Lennon looked the fittest and sharpest Spurs player on the field.

Second Half was the Bent and Dos Santos Show with Jenas providing more thrust in the middle. Bent by no means is a great footballer like Berbatov who can do silly things with the ball. Bent though is an excellent striker (yes its only Orient) and I was very impressed with 1. His movement off the ball and on the last defender. 2. His finishing was impressive.

The Yids love Gio and I can see why. Lovely left foot and a lovely brain on young shoulders (along with Modic), picked the right pass 99% of the time. Whats very clear both are team players both showing awareness bringing it onto Taarabt, who was quite disappointing (still a bit greedy) first half, he should look at how Gio can adapt from playing simple football-shot passing to exciting dribbling and shooting.

Janssen looks a good keeper showed good control of the box and distributes quickly to the wingback, but really wanted to see Gomes, didn't play at all.
Assou-Ekotto, another good performance. The combination in the second half of BAE and Bale was better than first half Gilberto(doesn't look really up to speed) Bale.
Townsend looks very quick.
Dawson pigged a few peach balls from right to left.

The system of play is very different to last seasons, it's more counter attacking football from middle supporting wings to front (all taking responsibility to score)

Just to clarify...my post was extremely sarcastic! I was kind of making the same point as you except in my own incredibly witty and refreshing way.

Thanks for the report double0.

I'm glad Bent has done so well this week. There have been plenty of people who have written him off and hoping he'd be sold. I'd love to think they might not rush to judgement in the future but I doubt it

In the past our problem was a weak defence, average midfield and outstanding attack. Now we have a balance which should allow us to absorb pressure and create chances rather than just getting the ball up front and hoping someone would make something out of it.

I am glad that Bent has knocked a few in the net, it will give him the confidence to hit the ground running when the season finally starts......

My only concern is that with the likelihood of Berbertov going, we still need another striker, we can't expect Bent to play every game.........
