Yes just heard. Really sad news. A true legend. Indeed he was one of our greatest players and will be remembered by Tottenham fans forever. RIP Dave

Just seen it on Facebook and came straight to SC. Sad sad news, another of my boyhood heroes gone. God bless you Dave, you were one of the best and the original hard man. RIP.

As a younger American that's somewhat new to becoming a Spurs supporter, I will never fully understand/appreciate what Dave Mackay did for the club. And I won't pretend to. But from what I've heard from the older fans that got to witness him when he played, he definitely sounded worthy of the word that has already been used multiple times and is commonly used in conjunction with his name; legend.

Rest in Peace.

When we lose a legend like Dave Mackay it seems shallow to wallow in misery and sorrow after
having lost a League Cup Final to Chelsea - A petrodollar millionaire's plaything.

Honour and spirit is more important, Dave Mackay had plenty of that and hopefully our new batch of players
will have plenty as well.

Hope you had a great life Mr Mackay, you made many folk in football happy ... Apart from that 5-0 drubbing - You know the one.
R.I.P.

My dad saw him play and when I was growing up whenever he'd tell me stories of the great teams and games he saw the name of Dave Mackay would inevitably come up. Very sad news RIP Dave ...

RIP Dave. I had the pleasure of meeting him several times and he was a real gentle man as well as being an absolute colossus . Captained us in the 67 win against Chelsea which makes the timing kind of ironic. A game in which we outclassed them completely. I tell you this. If Dave at his peak was in our team this weekend the result may well have been different.

Oh damn !!

The only death of a Spur to turn my heart over.

Just so wanted to meet him.

Any one who never saw him play regularly home and away would never understand how truly unique and remarkable Dave Mackay was.

Did not realise he was 80 years of age.

Sh*t. Sh*t. Sh*t.
