Yeah...back when Lennon still contributed something more than hitting the ball off a player for a pointless corner.
Just the last two seasons

They could have made up hours of footage where our generally average strikers have failed to make any use of him over the last 9 years.

He contributed something but still not that much, he couldn't shoot or cross a ball back then and he still can't. The only asset he's got is speed.

MONEY is the reason Bentley doesn't want to play any more, he's a millionaire and he's comfortable being a millionaire.

He's not cut out for the modern game, certainly not in England. He always struck me as a bit of a playground player and you don't really get those at the top anymore.

And he can't be bothered to adjust like Keane and Defoe have - Bentley wouldn't make it in the premier league now, or any other half decent European league. He could go to America, but obv doesn't wanna go.

Hopefully his super hot mrs divorces him and takes all of his monies and then he has to work the gantries and press boxes with Stan Collymore reminiscing about if only they could turn the clock back.

He had an OK range of passing, he could probably still do a job for a team if they were prepared to let him do what he wants. A bit like Hull have done with Huddlestone. But he never had the energy or work rate to play on the wing. Also when we first signed him he was given free reign over the dead ball situations and never beat the first defender.

I can relate to him when he says that match day can be un-enjoyable, you have to be disciplined and it is hard to take risks for fear of letting the team down. Difference is I'm not getting a fortune for doing it. Fair play to him for stepping aside though. He doesn't need the money.

He did ok when called on during the champions league qualification season - but once he got onto that downwards slope it was going to require a lot of effort to get back on track. As he says, he didn't really want it any more.

I was really interested to hear what he had to say when watching last night - but he came across poorly in my opinion. Just sounded like he couldn't be bothered and wanted to live on easy street. Imagine having demands placed on you for 60,000k a week eh?!?!! Scandalous.

Kept going round in circles without delivering a real reason why he messed up his career - always said it was down to something else or someone else. Never his problem.

Sorry but I completely disagree. It sounds to me like he's realised that you can't rely on money to bring you happiness, for example when he describes how getting a new contract didn't make him any happier. I think he, like everyone, wants to enjoy their job, and once he realised he didn't enjoy football he basically stopped. Obviously he had a contract with Tottenham, so he couldn't really just pull out altogether, but now the contract is up it seems like he'll move on to different things, and if that's what is going to make him happy then good for him. Don't think he ever blamed anyone else for his own shortcomings, just said that he lost his love for the game. I think he makes a good point about football in general to be honest, it's so systematic now with what you can and can't do. Moments like with Rodellaga and Lloris the other week are all too rare now where oppositions can get along and look like they're having fun

Watched two minutes, that was enough. What a wanker.

Bottle, fight and comfort level spring to mind. Big billy big bollocks made it, his style of player went out of fashion, and he gave up.

Sounds like a Sherwood signing :cautious:

Wow, he didn't enjoy his job. What a shame. A real minority, the millions working 9-5 or longer just to make ends meet must feel sorry for him

The guy is a fraudster who conned the club out of around £30m and couldn't be arsed to put the effort in a few hours a week for £60k

I wish I could say no to my job because I've fell out of love with accounts and balance sheets. ****

He comes from the same locality as a mate of mine. My mates quite a arrogant so and so but he's always said Bentley was a tosser. That was based on his younger days no doubt and people change I guess.

I liked him as a player and think Redknapp Fucked his career like he did a few others.

Whose career did Redknapp fuck over at Spurs?

Anyway Bentley's card was marked before Harry arrived. In a recent interview Ramos singled him out as the one player at Spurs he had a problem with.

Lol, that comes across as so bitter. He's not asking anyone to feel sorry for him. He's lucky enough to be in the position of having enough money to stop working and be with his family and he has. Don't blame him

I don't think anyone could question that he had some talent. He just struck me as the type of player who wanted to play with the freedom of a kick about. I don't think he enjoyed having to do all of the other less interesting stuff that professional football at the top requires so he lost interest. That's fine if you're a great player, perhaps Berba being an example of that, but Bentley wasn't a great player.
