From Vicario's mouth, Ange told him that he chose him and the reasons for doing so, so i'll probably trust Ange as to who we've signed and why and continue to not give a toss about whatever Arsenal are doing, because as far as I'm concerned that's what supporting the club is.

There seems to be a race to come across as rational/intellectual/stroking your own financial ego/understanding.

In essence siding with everything the owners are doing to help you come across that way in the guise of positivity that they will jump on posts that are just discussing how they’re seeing things in the transfer market at this moment in time. trying to suggest people are over emotional and having a meltdown in the guise positivity is tedious

Genuine positive people/posts don’t try to police other peoples thoughts and not try to make out they’re having a meltdown/over emotional. Anyway
This is absolute chef’s kiss level - whilst absolutely not trying to police other people’s thoughts. (Something no-one is doing - you’ve misunderstood what a forum is, you have the right to say what you want (within the forum rules) but that goes for everyone including a right for people to say the opposite thing to you.)

And yet ITK indicated that Vicario was top of our list.
Did they? I seem to remember them saying Raya was first choice but we weren't prepared to meet Brentford's price. Rather than mess around all window (like we usually do) we moved on to our next target.

Someone was always going to benefit from being a late mover here. Unfortunately we had to move relatively quickly.

Brentford was counting on someone missing out on GK musical chairs and being desperate and that was never going to happen.

makes me sick that aresnal are going to end up being the beneficiaries but fair play to them. That’s what you can do when you are operating from position of strength vs desperate need.

Yeah - frustrating if that’s the price. I want to believe that Slick Vic was first choice all along, but these videos SpursOfficial keeps pumping out of the wonderful goals the likes of Lo Celso and Ndombele keep scoring in training makes me wary…

Exactly this. Absolute nightmare. He was blatantly our first choice, and for good reason

As I said at the time. Some at the club wanted Raya, Gabaninni's first choice was Vicario. How much the price came into it at the end is anyone's guess but we ended up with the guy our chief scout had identified as the number 1 option and Ange was happy with that result.

Raya and Ramsdale, both feels like keepers that should be first choice
for their clubs. They can’t seriously have 2 keepers of that quality
fighting it out for the one starting spot.

Is Ramsdale leaving or something, what am I missing?

Maybe they have realised that Ramsdale is a bit of a chocolate fireguard.

He makes simple saves look extraordinary, but I don’t think he’s that good.

I will add that Arteta seems very indecisive with keepers having already moved on Leno and Martinez who’ve both excelled elsewhere.

He was shit at Sheffield utd but he was amazing last season. Absolute difference maker in the home game at the lane.

Don't like the guy but you can't say he wasn't good last year.

I think they can.

Chelsea had Cech & Cudicini
Juve had Buffon & Szechny
Man.U Van Der Sar & Howard
We had Lloris & Friedel

They’re also in the CL and will be challenging on all fronts with the squad depth and quality they now have.

I know it was ‘one mistake’ but Ramsdales pass straight to Southampton after 1 min in that crucial home game arguably lost them the title especially in terms of momentum at least,

I think Raya is better tbh. Ramsdale makes me nervous sometimes.

Shame they’re getting Raya as that’s another weakness strengthened for them

Surely Brentford aren't going to accept that bid though?
Brentford have repeatedly said they want nearer £40mil for him, and I feel like they're financially fine so they don't feel desperate to get rid of him,

So I don't see them accepting that low a bid.

And each of those there was a clear either a clear first choice or a clear succession plan. Raya is in his peak and Ramsdale is still very young. Rarely do you see two first choices battling it out for GK, as it's a position that needs stability, and not fear that one mistake and you're out

Well they’ve only bid £20 million, so it’s by no means certain they get him. Agreed about Ramsdale though, feels like a weak link.

This is true, I hope it backfires but tbh I just think it’ll end up being Raya n.o1 choice and Ramsdale slowly phased out.

Difference slightly is that with all those pairs there was a clear Number 1 and Number 2, no matter how good the number 2 was.

With Raya and Ramsdale, who is the clear number 1 and number 2?

I think Raya is the overall better keeper, so do you drop the keeper who got you to 2nd in the league for the first time in years?

Also with the above options, was there any real rotation outside of cup competitions? Who out of Ramsdale or Raya is going to be happy only playing cup games?
