Oh well. I trust in our new technical director to find us someone who does want to wear the shirt and will do a good job for us.

I am completely not fussed we haven't got him.

Barca want us to pay £10-£12 million and then sold to A. Madrid for 5 million Euro's. Regardless, of what people say the player wanted to stay in Spain, it is a simple as that.

I would rather see hungry young talent come in who can stay with us for years and not the end of a career 32 year old.

So a big fat meh, I don't care from me.

Gutted but come on guys - you must have seen something like this coming. We can't keep getting this emotional about ITK fails, just treat it as a bit of fun.
It's the ongoing striking situation that is, understandably, making people very anxious, as we have been fucking around with this position for far too long and NEED to get it sorted NOW.

Perhaps Villa just wanted Champions League. To get over this, I will be re-reading those articles stating Villa was past it and agree rather than refuse to believe them.

We all could have known that and just wrap it up as early as possible. We were in talks with Barcelona since February???

As much as I wouldn't have minded Villa, it just didn't seem like a Levy signing, with him being wrong side of 30, big wages and coming off of a lengthy injury.

Maybe Villa wanted to stay in Spain, play champs league, maybe Levy didn't want to give 50% of his future transfer fee to Barca, and to me that's probably the main reason we stayed clear and rightly so from a financial angle.

Villa isn't the only striker available, so not the end of the world for me

it says barcelona has agreed not Villa, interesting that Mundo Deportivo said earlier in the summer that Villa wasnt keen on Atletico

Today Graham Hunter said that issue with spurs is agreeing a fee so it should be interesting how much Barca value that 50% sell on clause

This is the bit I'm having trouble understanding. Villa is 31/32 years old, so how much are Barcelona really expecting to get with a 50% sell on clause for a player of Villa's age, just doesn't make sense to me

It's a shame, but on the bright side we'll now be looking to bring someone in who can do a job for more than one year.

Anyone criticising Levy over this: get a grip. You have no clue whatsoever what happened behind the scenes on this one.

I imagine this would've been decided more on sell on value (or lack thereof), length of contract & wages - even if two out of them three worked out, we all know what Levy is like and it wouldn't shock me one bit if he balked at some demand or another and Atl. stepped straight in with a "we'll do that".

Fair play to them - sucks to be us, but it's a long way til the end of the window.

Also, consider JD is in a lot of the promo stuff, yet Manu isn't - according to the ITK we have so far, it should surely be the other way around?

You're gonna refer to ITK after the shit they've been saying about Villa? I'm not feeling very ITK friendly at the moment
