Gutted about this, really would've liked to have seen a player of his status join our club. I can understand why though, he gets to stay in Spain and play for Atletico, who in their own right are a very good team playing CL football. It's a good move for him nonetheless.

Personally, I think he didn't want to join because Lennon didn't want to give up the number 7 shirt.

LBH, the only ITK there is (from Spurs side of things) are going to be FB, DL & AVB maybe 1 or 2 others.

This is the bit I'm having trouble understanding. Villa is 31/32 years old, so how much are Barcelona really expecting to get with a 50% sell on clause for a player of Villa's age, just doesn't make sense to me

Exactly because it says if he leaves early they only pay 2mill and also worth noting that if he renews for another season they pay a bit extra.

Also the transfer may mean that barca keep 50% of the players rights. i.e. shirt sales and sponsorship which would mean that the fee would reach that £10mill mark if not more

I think Villa is probably a bit of a home boy. Stayed at Valencia when he could have got a move anywhere after the Euros..

What people on here need to remember is that it's not just about transfer fees, wages & champions league. Players have families and responsibilities of their own whether we like it or not. It's a move that makes perfect sense to me, for him.

I'm disappointed too but hey, we move on & continue building a great young side. Perhaps Bernard will enter the fray again now if we're still wanting a wide forward?

yeah, I am left with a very low opinion of ITK info at the end of every season but its totally my own fault because I keep reading it. The one or two true bits of info get lost in a sea of BS, rumours & chinese whispers....

BUT i really think as much as i am gutted this could be a blessing maybe.

Soldado and Benteke .... These are the two that can REALLY make a difference. There is no other option but to really get stuck in now and make things happen.

Levy is no way that bloody daft!! We are at such a fine line as a club were one big striker signing will make this club have huge potential for the upcoming season.

I am of firm belief that we offered what we could, and did what we could. However, Atletico were able to offer the one thing we couldn't. Champions League while staying in Spain with him family and friends. Had they not come in, we may have signed him.

Anyway, let's look at other striker targets.
