Watching some Davinson Sanchez V.S different teams video. It seems that Ajax also play insane high-line defence, perfectly fits our tactics

Tom Collamosse: The defender would become Spurs' first signing of the summer and could even arrive in England later today.

Tottenham may eventually pay close to £40m for the 21-year-old Colombia international, which would make him comfortably their record signing. The initial payment Ajax were seeking was thought to be about £27m.

The Sanchez deal is thought to have been delayed by debate over the exact structure of the payments but these are now said to have been resolved.

I presume the deal will be in Euros and Daniel Levy will be hoping that the pound is a lot stronger against the Euro by the time he has to pay the next instalments.

Just in the past month, the pound has dropped almost 5% against the Euro which is equivalent to £2 million of this £40 million transfer fee.

Davinson Sanchez close to joining Tottenham after Spurs agree deal with Ajax for defender

Davinson Sanchez is believed to be close to joining Tottenham after the club agreed a deal in principle with Ajax.

The defender would become Spurs' first signing of the summer and could even arrive in England later today.

Tottenham may eventually pay close to £40m for the 21-year-old Colombia international, which would make him comfortably their record signing. The initial payment Ajax were seeking was thought to be about £27m.

If Sanchez does sign, there may be doubts about the future of Kevin Wimmer, who was wanted by Southampton earlier in the summer, as well as by clubs in the Bundesliga.

The Sanchez deal is thought to have been delayed by debate over the exact structure of the payments but these are now said to have been resolved.

Sanchez would be the fourth player with Ajax connections to join Tottenham in recent times following the arrivals of Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

Spurs won’t keep vast sums in Sterling, probably just enough to pay for day to day operations.

Most of my firms cash reserves are in USD, Euro and bitcoin. Only transfer it when I need to pay people

It is not unexpected that Spurs would have held significant funds in Euros just to avoid this issue. Levy did it with the Bale money (paid in Euros and spent it in the same currency).

"Similarly, English clubs with Champions League revenue or other pots of euros will sometimes sit on the money with an eye to spend it later, on euro-based deals."

Blimey, how many times can the newspapers publish stories that this deal is close?

I'm with you & we'll have to see whether it's finally true. It does seem a heck of a lot for CB that might not be 1st choice & rather uncharacteristic of Levy to pay this kind of money for such a player.

It's actually mad that we're going to probably sign him. Incredible talent.

Ajax's cultivating of talent is surely second to none? Definitely my second favourite club, especially considering I fucking hate Feyenoord

City did it with Jesus. We (inadvertently, but not unexpectedly) did it with Sissoko. This kid is the real deal and would give us real cover in the back line. As good as Dier is at being our swiss army knife, potential injuries and fixture congestion will give us plenty of opportunity to put Sanchez on the pitch. This is a statement of intent by the club to go out and get a legit star knowing that he won't immediately slot into our starting XI.

We wouldn't but his agent might.
Come on lads we're not exactly angels.

Exactly. To be honest, these last few years I've become confused by what actually consists of tapping up a player. Seems clubs don't really want to sell, but before long they've already had an in depth discussion with Poch.

I'm sure we wouldn't do anything which could see us reported, but I think the lines have become pretty blurred in recent times.

I'm not denying he'd be a could buy & put real pressure on Toby & Verts etc., but just suggesting it seems a little out of character for Levy to pay the kind of fee being suggested. It will be interesting if he does & I hope he follows it up with a couple more.
