I worked as a sports journalist for many years. I'm now one of those jammy sods working as a "researcher" within the sport and I watch hours of certain leagues each week. I write a list each summer mostly to myself outlining which players I'd like us to sign. Sanchez is a player who was top of my list. He's such an incredible talent. Thuramesque if you like.

Who else did you have out of interest?

Updates just broken in Holland. Supposedly we have a delegation going there tomorrow but Real Madrid and others now interested but Ajax prefer negotiating with us after previous deals.

Edit-Supposedly the player has spoken to Poch already.

In my opinion he won't be replacing Wimmer he'll be replacing Dier in terms of CB with Dier solely playing CM unless emergency. Sanchez will start RCB whenever we play a back 3 and will start whenever Jan or Toby are rested/not available in a back 2.
Looking forward to Beece going mental in every single match ratings thread this season. (To be fair, he's not wrong: Dier as a defender >> Dier as a midfielder.)

I'm assuming this is so that we can more regularly play with three at the back whilst allowing Dier to remain in midfield. I would, personally, rather see more of Winks, but if it allows Poch to play how he wants more often then go for it. He obviously doesn't feel CCV is ready for that spot on the right of the three and I'd agree.

Not Barkley's biggest fan but if we bring himin along with this guy I'll be ok with it.

Moussa, Vic, Barkley and Sanchez is a nice mix of pace, power and ability. If we keep Sissoko until January it's 5 super strong players in the squad. Handy to have when facing a suped up manure etc.
Shows what I know, I thought he was a centre back.

Verts - Toby - Sanchez
Davies - CCV - Dier

Imagine this is what the CB group will look like, with Davies also being understudy to Rose and LB and Dier challenging Wanyama for the CDM position.

Always good to have such strength in depth.

I hope it doesn't lead to Dier and Wanyama together in midfield. Rarely works imo.

It wouldn't surprise me if Poch and him had a meeting over the summer. It's World Cup year where he's looking to be CM for England, a year of not playing at all in CM in Prem could put his place at risk. Think there's a few rumours about him wanting to play CM too, Man Utd rumours as well, maybe an agreement of him playing CM was made with Poch.

If Jan was out I could still see a Dier - Toby - Sanchez back 3. Sanchez is pretty comfortable on left foot and you don't have to have a left footer at LCB, Cahill for example.

De Telegraaf report also states that fee will be close to €50m
They've reported 8 different ones since this story broke. Loving the traffic and I think that is why they alone keep name dropping other major clubs like Chelsea

Well, if Dier wants to start there for England, hopefully Poch can help him to become better in the position. I agree, I personally prefer Dembele or particularly Winks there and think Dier is better at RCB but let's see how we go this season with him there - Poch knows when and if there are problems so we'll have to see how he deals with the more stagnant CMF those two often create together.

That is bonkers if true. We shouldn't be spending that on a cb. We had the best defence in the prem last year.
How is my option spam? Spurific?
