Who knows anymore? Are we sure this player even exists?

Their source is a radio program and I have no idea how reliable that is. It's Columbian but they've called this deal nearly done half a dozen times now.
Levy just cannot accept that it is currently a buyers market only. Surely we knew what it would take to sign him before we placed our bid. We used to be indecisive but now we are not so sure when it comes to conducting our transfer business. It is now mid August and so far all we have done is weaken our squad. The precious zero net spend may not be achievable this window at this rate. Goodness knows what implosion will occur if we sign nobody.

IF he goes to Madrid, I don't see how levy could be blamed. This guy has been on Barcelona and Madrid's radar for over a year, they were always monitoring the situation, even if we had made an approach at the beginning of June you can bet that Madrid or Barcelona would have thrown their hat into the ring

It occurred to me that levy leaves it late because once we pay €50m for Sanchez, all other deals will also be inflated. By not showing his hand, DL can negotiate each deal behind closed doors.

Not that I agree with the methodology.....

Reckon it might be true imo, would seem to be a strange thing to make up out of nowhere unless something is being leaked by Ajax. Still, it's down to the will of the player.

I think we got burnt with some of our expensive transfers, so maybe the club is looking at all options when the selling club inflates their prices. I don't blame them really as I still think we could have got more for both Bale and Modric

I'm not saying that I'm happy we've not added depth to the squad but come on folks, every transfer window we've lost key players. We've actually done good business by keeping this incredible squad together. I've never has such faith in a manger before like I have in Poch and I'm not talking transfers but coaching and developing players..............what other clubs sing "he's one of our own"

Have faith guys and just enjoy this incredible journey we're on. Good chairman (business wise) new stadium, exceptional coach that's developing players which can only benefit the national team in the long run. What's not to be happy about?

I might buy into that if Poch wasn't saying that we needed to sign new players.

Doh!!!
Interesting to see some of the replies to this news. Some Spurs fans are poor ambassadors when it comes to cyberspace!
Let's hope Levy leverages Spurs' "special relationship" with Los Blancos & convinces them to withdraw their offer at the last minute , and The Chairman swoops in like a knight in shinning armor & picks up Sanchez at a discount!

Do feel like Levy's tactics are becoming out-dated. Not sure how effective brinkmanship and low-balling is when so many clubs are cash-rich these days. I hope I'm proved wrong by the end of the window but this pain-staking approach to negotiations is only going to see us keep getting burnt on transfers. The window closes in two weeks and it's felt like we've never been that close to anyone. I really hope we haven't let Sanchez slip through our fingers because it feels like target after target is getting away from us.

As I said, we do need to add depth to the squad but we shouldn't have any complaints about our transfer dealings so far. It's not as if we can sign players that we oust our starting 11. So Poch saying that we need 3-4 players may be just to add depth to the squad. I'm sure he's said that he is very happy with the players we have.
In my opinion the signing we need the most is a RB and even then, I think it would be unfair on Trips to drop him to the bench as I feel he's proven he can be in the starting 11. I knew nothing of Sanchez before seeing his name on this site but I can't see us willing to pay over £30m on a player that is going to sit on the bench............................shit! we already did that with Sissoko........I guess Levy don't want to get done again

shouldn't have any complaints so far is ballsy when all we've done is sold the best right back in the league. I get the general drift though so agree on the most part.

Trouble is it's a squad game now and our squad isn't strong enough to compete in all major competitions. We need a trophy to keep this team together and it's going to be harder than last year, which was great, but ultimately we won nothing.

Our squad at the start of this season is weaker than at the end of the last. Reason to complain imo.

This thread is living proof of the reaching and the desperation for a signing that occurs among Spurs fans when we havent signed anyone 2 weeks until the window closes. We dont even need a CB and people here are desperate for someone they hadnt heard of until 5 days ago. I guess what I am trying to say is, let it be. If he signs, he signs. If he doesnt, he doesnt. Not the end of the world. We dont exactly need him.

....and I will join you but only when the TW closes.

I agree with you guys that we do need to improve the "squad" but apart from a RB, I can't see how we can improve without spending upwards of £50m
