Barca are going to have a lot changes this summer with Dos Santos Eto'o Deco Ronnie amoung others to leave but i really think that spurs should place a bid for rafa marquez... hes a soild world class player and scores the occasional goal. i for one would think that he can solidify that position for spurs. are there any rumors of where he might be going in the summer?

I've been saying for a while now that defensive midfield needs to be our top priority this summer. My preferences would be:

Xabi Alonso
Palombo (just edges it as he has more experience than Veloso and is captain material)
Veloso
Kehl
Ernst
Makoun

I disagree.

Our top priority without doubt is a top class goal-keeper.

Robbo didn't turn shit over night. Our midfield weren't providing enough cover for our defense. No matter what keeper we sign, if we dont get in a decent DM we'll leak goals and this time next season we'll be blaming the keeper again.

I agree that Robinson didn't turn shit overnight. It was a very gradual process.
04/05 A good season, possibly our player of the year
05/06 His deficiencies start to show, but still a decent season
06/07 A poor season.
07/08 Abysmal
Really I don't know how anyone can still defend Robinson. Like most Spurs fans, I took a long time to grudgingly accept that he was not up to it. A new goalkeeper should absolutely be our priority this summer.

I think a new car park attendant should be our priority this summer.

Its imperative to the development of the club!!!

Spot on. Though agree that a keeper is also a priority if Ramos has decided to replace Robbo but IMO finally getting someone to replace the job Carrick did has to be more important.

Everytime I watch us, more so in second halfs of games oppostition teams midfielders running through.our defense gets a hugh amount of stick but we concede so many goals that stem from an oppopsition midfielder being given free roam towards our goal

Though whether there is this type of player out there, available and interested in joining us is another matter

Marcquez at Barca though would be great shout but I have doubts as to whether we'd be able to sign him or not! I'd still like to have seen how Kaboul would do in that role but obviously not very well or Ramos would surely have looked into that!

Huddlestone would be great in that pole if he could sort out his positional play

In all though i'd just like to see the day when we can finally start a season with a settled spine through it and not another summer of 3 or 4 MUST signings...........

Absolutely. Robbo's technical abitlity remains, but due to various circumstances his confidence is shot and mentally he's not right. I think he needs a fresh start at a new club if he wants to get back to anything like his former glory.

However I do believe the midfield needs to be sorted or this pattern will continue with any keeper we buy.

I agreem i remember speaking to a friend and him saying how Robbo can win games by keeping shots out, I argued that if you didn't score you couldn't win but hey, I got his point.

Now, you simply can not rely on him!

I think the players I have mentioned are all within our pulling power. Especially with the Ramos factor.

Xabi Alonso - if Pool get Barry then I cant see why he would stay. I'm sure Ramos could convince him that we're going places.
Palombo - tricky one because he's so important to the Viola. Definately the type of player we need though. He's been compared to Gattusso.
Veloso - would be a real coup if we could pull it off. Again, Ramos could have a huge influence on this one.
Kehl - just signed a new contract but I'm sure he'd relish the opportunity to test himself in the Premiership.
Ernst - again, the opportunity to test themselves in the Premiership should be a big pull for any proffessional with ambition.
Makoun - looks like he's coming to the Premiership so we're in with as good a shout as any. He seems to be a step up from Zokora, but a similar style of player, which makes me wonder whether he'd cope in a 4 man midfield.

Has anyone else thought that Ramos might have Jenas in mind for the defensive midfield role next season? As even his detractors often point out, he's been our best midfielder this season, and yet with the arrival of Modric, it seems that it is his position which has most likely been replaced.

Perhaps Ramos feels that Jenas doesn't quite bring enough creativity to the attacking midfield role, but that his athleticism and skill still make him an essential part of our midfield. The question marks would be over his positional sense and discipline.

Just thought I'd put it out there

I CANT believe christian poulsen hasnt been mntioned. The bloke is absolutely immense and i think ramos could tempt him over. He is exactly what we need.

Ideally my top 3 targets for a Defensive midfielder would be
1.Poulsen
2.Polombo
3.Veloso

:hello: Hello TheHatman - welcome to Spurscommunity

I believe that Poulsen was discussed (at length) a few months back. That's probably why no one's mentioned him recently.

Anyway, he'd cost an arm and possibly even a leg, because Seville REALLY don't like us that much.

Something about stealing their manager?

He has a £7million release clause.
