Did anyone find it very unusual how Pav got the nod ahead of Defoe when it came to coming on for Crouch tonight?

Could it be that Harry and him have fallen out cos of Defoe mouthing off in the press?

Anyone heard anything?

Wouldnt read to much into it tonight. Think Pav was the better option for the closing minutes as is slightly bigger target man than Defoe and can hold the ball up abit better.

And Pav is better at defending set pieces.

Thought it odd that their keeper went up for corners late in the game at the San Siro, but not tonight?

i wish fans would stop calling our players names. Just anoying now.

Anyway i agree with whats been said. Pav went on as he is a bigger target man. At lest Pav would have had a slightly better chance than Defoe with the long balls.

Dont see either as being great at holding the ball up though.

I found it strange too. Especially as Defoe would have stretched Milan with his runs in behind.

It really would not surprise me in the slightest if Harry had a little word with him about that interview.

For me, Defoe was a disrepectful of Redknapp's decision making and man-management, and that simply is not on.

Different keepers Marco Amelia the one that came on last time has a history of scoring goals!

It made more sense since Pav, like Crouchinho, has much more experience in European competitions. A lot of people often forget that.

That said, based on what happened to Keane after the Dublin episode I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Harry is a bit pissed off with Defoe after the prima donna interview.

Defoe up top on his own is better than Pavluychenko...who IMO is a pussy cat. At least Defoe defends from the front.

If a player is not doing the job he's paid to do and is off form, he should be dropped for the good of the team.

If Defoe is sulking and dissatisfied right now, he should actually be accepting the reasons for not being first choice. Harry does like him and has been patient with him so far and, okay, Defoe has managed to score a couple at last after a long dry spell but he has much more to prove and I'm sure Harry will give him the chance.

It's now Defoe's turn to be patient and perhaps do a little growing up (not in height of course, that's hardly likely...) if he wants to win back a first choice place.

Harry got it right last night.

Pav was all over Nesta even knocking him down to get the ball from him. Yeah Pav doesn't defend from the front :bang:

Defoe defend

I thought Pav was a better sub than Defoe at the time because Pav is better at holding up the ball than Defoe.

I wouldn't either, but if Harry was that pissed off Defoe wouldn't have made the bench.
