I heard on the OS forum it may have been aggravated in training by Palacios I am glad it is only 3 weeks.

I dont know about GDS Aitch has watched him play many times over the past month. He has played in all the games with Appiah so maybe he thinks "he's not for me".

Poor little git I like his work ethic and attitude.:hello:

Like I told you all yesterday, before pretenders on the other forums and in the press latched on, bruising, not break, hence 3 weeks, not 3 months.

As for Modric in his better role? What are you lot on? Have you not realised by now that he is far better in the centre of a four than in the hole behind a one?

Exactly it seems people are yet to realise we had only scored about 7 goals at home before the stoke game with that awful 4-5-1 formation. We just can't create chances with a 4-5-1. I won't be surprised if we relegate if harry starts using that formation again.

Had a look at our fixtures and we have got very few games for the next 3 weeks (just bolton and arsenal in prem) and shaktar so it could have been worse. Still feel this will push our quoted striker prices up even more

So, he's out for about 3 weeks, i hope that is true and it is not any longer, but it could have been a hell of a lot worse!
Has someone been sent to wake up Mr Bent?

I know GDS could be about to move, but if it's the usual SSN garbage, how about he lines up in the following 4-3-3 formation tomorrow:

Chimbonda----Dawson---Woodgate----BAE

-------Zokora---Palacios---Modric

---Lennon------------------------GDS
--------------------Pav

I would quite fancy that as it would be solid in midfield but contain the right amount of flair. It would also be good to try in the absence of Defoe.

Yep to be successful at 451/433 you need the wideplayers or a midfield to score lots of goals a la Lampard at Chelsea or Messia and Henry at Barca. Neither Lennon, Bentley, Gio, Modric, or Jenas are prolific enough.

Alreeet BBLG ....no one likes a show off  congrats on your heads up .

I agree with you Modric is best in the middle of the park as part of a flat midfield 4. I really cant wait to see him and Palacios together.

Swap Lennon and GDS to each be on their wrong foot and let's talk turkey. cutting in Barca style, with the attacking fullbacks providing the width and modric controlling the flow.

however, I predict the same line up as v stoke except chimbo in for one of the centre backs (corluka moving centre back and chimbo right back of course) and palacios in for defoe and going into midfield.

Not only decent ITK, but spot on tactically too - Modric needs the space playing deep to start his magic triangles. He's good in tight areas too, but needs to kinda slow slow quick quick slow probe the oppositions defences. It's not always blood and thunder but it is good football, when mixed with the quicker breaks when they are genuinely on. In a four he can both drop deep and choose when to be a number 10, particularly with Palacios blasting from box to box and Zoko holding, or Palacios holding and Jenas in CM mode.

Rep to ya, Monsieur _leGin.

So the injury will apparently put him out for anything between 3 and 10 weeks... nice and vague but shit either way.

I long for the days of Wolverine like players with virtually unbreakable bones and amazing healing abilities, save all this unlucky bollocks :(

Defoe out ? Solves the problem for a while of fitting in Modric, Pal, Zok Pav etc.

Pav up front with Modric in the hole.

Modric is a fantastic little footballer but he's had one great game in the flat 4 midfield. The others - including against Burnley - have been poor by his standards. So all of a sudden, because the last game you disingage your brain and declare that's clearly where he should play - away from home at places like Bolton. This is naive.

Tactics need to be altered occasionally to suit. We will need to compete and earn the right to play any football tomorrow.

Defoe rarely looked strong enough away from home anyway.

Modric needs to be lightened of Responsibility, we have players that can do that (Palacios, jenas, Zokora or even Hudd perm two from the four).
Put creativity on either flank as well and you have strength, balance and creativity.

Not the weak 4 man midfield that had played poorly for the 4/5 games previous.

It's not the 4-5-1 that's the problem, it's the way Modric has been played in a 4-5-1 (and that applies as much to Ramos as to Redknapp). He is not and never will be a No. 10.
