As far as I understand it Spurs tend to pay a relatively small amount in basic pay but pays a lot more in performance bonuses than most other clubs. If I remember this correctly this was introduced while Darren Anderton was at the club.

Jamie Redknapp managed to sign an improved contract in front of Alan Sugar whilst stood there on crutches! :wtf:

I don't...

Don't worry you're not alone; most honest people don't get one for their bedroom gymnastics either ;)

Don't want to be a pedant but Jamie Redknapp joined in 2002 and ENIC purchased Spurs in 2001 so it was probably Levy and I think that was when he actually signed for Spurs in the first place that he was on crutches. I think Levy learnt a lot from that purchase and Anderton to be sure on the players fitness and to put more weight on performance incentives and less on basic wages.

The only reason i recall it being Sugar was because he spoke about it with the lovely Louise  when she was on the "celebrity" or Comic/Sports Relief does the Apprentice, unless Anderton has a famous other half that would be seen on one of those shows that i'm getting confused.
Could it have been he was on crutches when he signed for Spurs? Or during the transition of ownership. I've had a lot of smacks on the head since i watched it so it's entirely possible that none of this actually happened and i'm currently surfing Pluto on a plank made of Scotch Pine...

I'm off to google pictures of Louise :bag:

Maybe if he told Pav that too instead of 'just facking run round a bit' he'd have scored more goals.
Poor old Super Pav. 42 goals in 113 games for us, and 43 of those games where from the bench as a sub!! His stats really aren't that bad....in fact when you look at the number of sub appearances, they're good! He was lazy, but he could find the net. He also kept us in the Champions League away to Young Boys in 2010 with a belter when we were getting our arses handed to us.

Should have scored a lot more goals for us Defoe. I've said it before on this forum but his finishing was very rash at times. Of course it worked a lot, but his "hit it as hard as you can" sometimes was straight at the goalie or over the bar. He had 3-4 big chances a game because of his great movement and awareness. I think he only had one season where he hit over 15 league goals for us which was frustrating. If he could have improved his finishing a notch he would have easily had 20 a season for us for many a year

Yes, however, it is worth mentioning that he rarely played the whole game and often came on as a substitute. Infact 1/3rd of his appearances for us were from the bench so that has to be taken into account.

Yeh but he was competing for a starting spot with Kanoute, Mido, Keane, Berbatov, Bent, Super Pav so his appearances were more limited. For the majority of his time with us, there were four top strikers the manager had to choose from, hence the lower than expected goals tally. If only we had even one more decent one now!

He had one or two years where he was our main man and he either got injured for an extended period or didn't score at all.
