Wouldn't really mind if he went. Not sure why, because I've always liked him. I think it's the bitching to the press that's annoyed me. I think (if he does go) it will be quite nice to see the commentators and opposing fans shut the fuck up about how Defoe is miles better than Soldado... Looked on the Daily Mail and these are some of the top rated comments:

Spurs would have done better in keeping Defoe and getting rid of misfiring Soldado

Defoe is a player who is sharp, dangerous, scores goals, works hard and is still only 31. Why he is not in Spurs team is a mystery to me. Perhaps he looks too good compared to his higher paid new colleagues and is causing an embarrassment to management?

Ive never understood Defoe's career. Everytime Ive seen him play he looks a threat yet for some reason is never picked, despite whatever manager is there at the time. There must be a reason for it, yet to me he seems one of the most naturally gifted goalscorers around.

"Every time I see him play he looks a threat" The way that comment is worded sums up other football fans regarding the Soldado / Defoe situation - aka "I've watched Tottenham once in about two months on MOTD and on MOTD he always looks really good"

If this is true then congratulations to Levy for uncluttering the most unneeded squad place we've got.

I've got no interest in this legend nonsense.

Sticking around does not make you a legend.
I don't remember many people affording the same respect to Huddlestone when he got shipped out?
The myopic fan remembers goals and the resulting happiness they created and thinks 'Defoe! Good guy!'
I prefer to remember failing to perform against decent teams, being woefully limited, his presence on the pitch causing it to appear that we had 10 men, his moaning when left out of the team, his inability to pass, living offside, cluttering up the squad for years on end, failing to gel with any of the other forwards & if true, briefing the press to the detriment of the coach.

'But he's our record goalscorer in Europe and has scored loads of goals?'

I say, £6m? Many thanks Toronto, let's stop stifling the progression of Kane, let's get Adebayor back involved or let's buy a promising young striker.

Thanks Jermain, you always looked after yourself.

He has been great in his time with us but is no longer exactly what we need so it won't bother me if he goes. I feel confident that Kane can fill that striker gap alongside Soldado.

If the rumours flying around that he is making negative comments about AVB are true, the sooner the better though because that will affect some of the other players. I hope the rumours are wrong but even false rumours can be harmful. We need positivity from the whole team and management, including the backroom staff, to bounce back.

A rat? If and when Defoe leaves I'll have nothing but respect for what he's achieved with us.
I don't have any bad feelings against the guy but he's not exactly the bastion of loyalty.

He put in a transfer request the save evening West Ham were related and moved to their biggest rivals.

He put in a transfer request as soon as he was 3rd to Keane and Berbatov.

Left Portsmouth almostimmediately for us, a much bigger club

Now Soldado is here, he is appearing to be leaving at the first opportunity.

Again, I doubt blame him for looking out for himself first, and grateful for the goals he did score but it needs to be said.
