Looked sharp today, strong on the ball and some good attempts... Would use him in home games with adebayor IMO ... Should of taken the game to city today..

Negative approach with crouch isolated with poor crossing by Lennon, jermain for me was hungry when he came on and it was good to see

We looked so toothless until he got on the ball that I was grateful for the cracks from distance but I don't think it's the answer, just a few brief flickers of light on a dark day.

just wish the shots he had actually had a bit of direction. he smashes it at goal and hopes for the best. he's a head down and hit it at a defender player. yes he will score the odd cracker but not through class

Thing is them shots on target are worthwhile if adebayor had been there BANG rebound goal unlike crouch

He has looked sharp in pre-season. He should replace the injured VDV up top with Adebayor in the coming weeks.

I thought he looked good against Man Utd too. Looks more powerful than he has done in a while.

Defoes shooting has always been good, the rest of his game lets him down at times.

What surprised me was that, for once, he was not caught offside today or did I miss it?

No doubt Jermain has been well off form lately, But I think the criticism he has received has been bang out of order, the guy has been a loyal player for us and has always shown determination, yes he gets lost in games sometimes and frustrated, but he has banged in 100 goals for us and that in itself is enough to earn my respect!

Thought he changed the tempo of the game a little today and showed some good character, we need to keep the likes of him here.

He was offside for the goal, but standing in front of Joe Hart was clearly not interferring with play.

Agree Defoe has looked good these past few games. He's not good enough to be the loan striker, but he's a great option to have. Definitely keep him!

Too permanent for that too...

Yes, I had forgotten about that. Luckily he didn't touch the ball before it went in.

Yeah, because then we might have lost 5-0. Which really wouldn't make much of a difference to my day :)

At least we've not joined Swansea as the only Premiership club to have yet to score a league goal this season.

I'm trying real hard to get a positive spin on a miserable day.
