Funnily enough he's got more chance of picking up a Premier League winners medal than a European Championship medal in the summer. I fully sympathise with his situation and would never question his commitment or professionalism. He really does deserve acclaim for all of his hard-work during both his spells at the club, i just hope he's around in May to receive it.

For me, still the best natural finisher in the league.

When Defoe left for Pompey we won the League Cup, and he missed out on a medal. Would fate say that he left us again in January again for first team football, we'd win the League?!

Defoe has played 22 games this season. VDV 20 games. Only 4 players have played more games than Defoe this season (BAE, Walker, Kaboul, Livermore).

Of course, Defoe has been a sub in some of these games and some games have been in the cups/europa but he's still been very involved.

VDV does pick up a lot of injuries so he will always get games.

Papers generating talk again....I believe that we will be less vulnerable if one of our 'big' players gets injured than if the likes of Defoe, Dawson, Krancjar and Livermore have their heads turned....you win nothing with just eleven good players

Meh, of course JD wants to play every match, but if JD plays we have to drop VDV due to the style we play.

Sounds like a bollocks story to me. JD knows the score, it's all about the team at the mo. Cannot see him putting himself above the team when we're in the best position in the PL at this stage ever. He'll still get a PL winners medal IF we win it, so why rock the boat? JD's a major part of our squad, we know it, he knows it, can see no logic in him leaving whatsoever for us or him.

IF he was to leave, it would only be to one of the Manchester clubs as the lad has ambition, in which case it would be a swap for Berbatov, Tevez, or a massive discount on Ade, and it's a big fat no to all of those.

Last year i thought really highlighted all of Defoes flaws, when he isn't scoring he isnt contributing.

I give the guy credit, each year you can tell he has worked on areas of his game upper body strength being one of the more noticeable.

I don't actually rate Defoe as a good finisher, when he scores he looks clinical but he has one method and that is to blast the ball, you don't see him score goals that require finesse, in my opinion pav is a far more accomplished finisher

I also thik of him as incredibly selfish, you can tell when he comes on as a sub that he wants to score at all costs but he wants to make sure its him that does it, a player who gets the ball turns and shoots without looking up nearly every time is not a good asset in my opinion

I like him as an impact sub because he does have goals in him but he is a player whose limitations outweigh his strengths

Unless we have a replacement ready i would hang onto to him but he is certainly not a player who will take the club forward

It's got quotes from Harry.

I don't know why he has to play every game to be considered for the Euro's. Surely Capello will want a player who can come on as an impact sub? Defoe's the man for that job.

I work with a lassie who is in contact with him quite often, and says he is quite happy at Spurs.

It is a good thing he wants to play more, as our whole squad seems to do, which is a good thing.

I would rather this than see our players happy to watch from their armchairs happy to pick up their huge wages, like those at City & Chelsea. That is one huge difference between a real club and a plastic play-thing club.

Really don't know about that.. he'd definitely go somewhere where he's guaranteed a starting spot. QPR or somewhere like that. The guy only seems to care about his England ambitions and his best form only comes around when there's a tournament in the summer.

Defoe lives around the corner from my Gran in potters bar, apparently his whole family lives with him and he'd hate a move away from London.

That's all hear-say though, considering he did move to pompey
