Should start with a clean slate like everybody else and then use pre-season to get himself noticed for the right reasons. He can still be a big part of this team if he puts his mind to it.

You willing to give Winks and Sissoko clean slates?

Are you kidding. He scores headers. He cannot shoot. In fact he turns down shots constantly. You may be remembering with rose tinted spectacles. He needs to start shooting when the opportunity arises. He gets in enough good positions around the edge of the box.

Can throw stats all you want. The majority of them came 3/4 years ago. I am going on what I have seen with my own eyes week in week out. Dele was a wonderful player. He stopped focussing, lost his hunger and the game has passed him by. My worry is he may have left it too late. Watching him now is like watching a shadow of a player. He has no pace, takes far too long in possession and either loses it or tries something over complicated which results in a mistake. He gets in many great positions but he needs to choose the right option quicker. If you’ve watched Dele in the last couple of years you will know his shooting is abysmal.

I'd prefer that than starting off with pre conceived ideas about players you've never met and never worked with.

Hmm I'm pretty sure the club know that certain players hold us back and should be sold, don't really need Nuno's expertise on that.

Agree with the second part.

But not everyone has a clean slate. Some players need to go now, not after been given a chance to prove themselves in pre-season. We need to raise money and it needs to happen early.

I respectfully disagree with this approach. Certain players have proven over a sustained period of time that they aren't good enough. You don't forget about how bad they've been. You sell them.

I'm not saying Dele falls in this category, I'm just talking about the principle.

He’s still got the time and the ability to have a second wind in his career. It’s hard to put your finger on what happened to him- too much too soon?, distractions off the field and a lack of professionalism?, just gone stale and lost interest at our club? - who knows.
There are others however who really are a totally spent force with us, and need to go out the door before he does.

Its not really throwing stats, you said he scored far more with his head than he did with he’s feet and you were wrong.

Love the way you changed the subject as soon as your assertion that all Dele's goals are from headers was proven to be ... bullshit. ;)

The major problem with Dele is the bit I have shown in bold in your post. That is a psychological issue and is rectifiable, with the right coaching and sports psychology input.

If he is training during his break, that implies that he means to take his career more seriously again. We will see.

But I have no problem with Dele's mistakes in attack, because they originate in exactly the same mercurial place in his brain as his brilliance - and his loss of focus. He plays on his instant reactions, his intuitions, and he improvises. It's the same broadly un-coachable approach to football as Ndombele - or Gascoigne. Unexpected things happen, moves and passes and shots that no one else would try.

When he gets it right, the result is an un-defendable goal. I don't give a damn if he gets it wrong six times each match, as long as he scores 20 goals and gets 10 assists in a season. Trying to turn him into a diligent central midfielder is a waste of his abilities.

Granted that may be how it seems however non intentional. The initial point I was making which was lost in a poor delivery of said point by myself was his ability to shoot from outside or around the edge of the box. He often chooses not to or when he does it’s woeful. He needs to improve due to the positions he gets into!

You can only go so far working on instinct and riding on one 20 goal season for Spurs. He needs to learn to adapt his game to suit whatever team he finds himself in. Much like others such as Kane have.

I have been one of Deles biggest fans due to the fact that he possessed the mercurial edge of the seat talent, however that alone will not make him a success again. He needs to improve in a number of areas, as my initial flippant comment alluded to. It really depends on how much he truly wants it

I would be happy if he will take that redemption arc and will regain his old form (like Lingard for example). Everything is possible. John Stones is another one. Had terrible form for couple of seasons and was on a verge of being sold

Also on the point of him posting training pictures meaning he must be looking to take things more seriously. He did the same last summer and the summer before that.

Dele yes but not players like Winks, Dier and Sissoko. They need to see the door!
