Apparently Spurs are rocked by the rumours of Real M. re-negotiating a new Bale contract. I can well imagine Poch storming into Levy's office to demand an answer as why Levy's not in Madrid to close a Bale deal

Man Utd and Tottenham rocked as Real Madrid begin Gareth Bale contract talks

REAL MADRID have begun talks with Gareth Bale over a new deal, according to reports.

Bale has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs this season with reports suggesting the Welshman was unsettled in Madrid.

Manchester United are understood to have made two bids in excess of £100m last summerand Tottenham have also emerged as new candidates to land him.

It's simple then. We win the league this year without Bale. Then buy Bale in summer. Roll on 5 years of Spurs dominance in the PL... Might even be able to sneak a cheeky treble in there at some point.

WTF is it with this site and Spurs fans in general that, when the subject arises (however fanciful) that we might buy back the best footballer we have had in the past, dunno, 20 years, the very first thought that occurs to them, to the point where they just have to start a lengthy debate about it, is:

"Which of our current players is so shit that he would lose his place to Gareth Bale?"

What is wrong with you people? Seriously. What is wrong with you?

I know DM, I know, such fucking dimwits, first thing anyone should be thinking is, now we have Spurs bank details, we can stop Walker's salary DD.

Disappointing that neither Spurs nor Real Madrid pointed out that their (shithouse) lawyer can't spell Rafael van der Vaart (lawyer wrote Raphael).

Good bit of business all round. He's not coming back though.

The Express article claims that "the player's Real contract was leaked yesterday causing more disruption at the Bernabeu."

Er ... no. As far as I'm aware the player's contract is entirely secret between Gareth, his advisors and RM. The only thing that was leaked was the Sale Contract between Spurs and Madrid. THFC sold his 'registration' to RM and Spurs retained an option to buy his registration back before 2019 IF we match any PL bid accepted by RM. Gareth isn't forced to return to THFC. But he can't rejoin another PL Club before 2019 without us having the option (a) to match the Bid and (ii) to try and negotiate a new player's contract with Gareth. His signature is on that Sale Contract accepting those terms.

I don't think James Cambridge or the Daily Express really understand the pretty straightforward situation at all. That's what you get with most 'journos' nowadays. The ability to make up a click bait headline on a couple of dodgy facts. As for RM being disrupted by the sale contract leak I think the evidence so far has Spanish fingerprints over it.

I also agree with David Matzdorf above. The idea that Bale might return to Spurs ever, and certainly in 2016, is fanciful (though not perhaps impossible). It's a valid and fun question to ask IF community members would like him back or not. It's worth a debate (although in my personal opinion we'd be stupid not to IF the terms were doable). But to immediately start knocking our currently good (and improving) players and squad by debating who should be replaced (by one of the best outfield players in the world) is a shame. We can save that for when Bale's back at WHL ;)

.

Huh? lol

As if we'don't sign him to sit him on the bench, he'd go straight in the team without a moments hesitation.
Haha obviously. I was just taking the piss in reference to Pochettino's quotes about how players have to understand that they're signing to train, not play.

"Tottenham rocked" Lol not even remotely close. Spurs literally have no hope of signing Bale unless he's willing to drop his wage demands by about half and RM is willing to cut their fee by about 3/4! And when the stadium is built, we'd still be off a ways! Come on now, media! You cannot possibly be this stupid! That whole clause is essentially a throw away clause that levy threw in there to make it look he got one over on them. There is no way in hell Bale will ever come back to Spurs.

I would, literally, laugh myself into a coma if i'm sat here in the summer watching Bale signing a contract and, at the press conference, he's asked why he chose to come back to Tottenham, and he replies, "Just to prove @yankspurs wrong...", then does his heart thing and grins that grin :joyful:

Maybe Bale will be our marquee signing in 2018 when our new stadium opens for business. Would be a great signal of intent, and would expect Bale might like to come play with us again in front of 61000 fans:cool:

I think if Bale leaves Madrid at 31-32, we'll have a very good chance of re-signing him.

Has anyone tried to make an online purchase etc using the club's bank details yet??
No. Because contrary to popular belief you can't actually get at someone's money with a bank account number & sort code, no matter how many Nigerian memes are made ;)

I hold this belief too. I reckon he has a genuine feeling for the club, and the new stadium will be a draw too.

Although he would have to remodel his game a lot on his 30s, as the electric pace diminishes. Probably end up as a playmaking No 10.

I think he will want to come back to the premier league before he's in the twighlight of his career. Can imagine he'd like to win the premier league. But who knows, he might be at Madrid until he's 33.

I think he will run down his contract personally and be sold a lot cheaper in 2018.

Ours for 30/40 mill in the new stadium ;)

Don't usually consider myself overly naive or romantic when it comes to player loyalty, but I just can't see that happening, don't think he'd do it to us.

Nice to see that he still watches our games. Tweeted about Alli's wonder strike soon after he scored. Probably trying to work out where he will fit in....lol
