"Crazy Clat in Mikel 'Monkey' Racist Rant"

Let's see if this is the kind of headline we see in the next few days.

I wonder.

Is it possible, just possible Chelsea will start up a 'Kick Refs Out Of Football' campaign?

Obviously, I'll feel a right John Terry if there's any 'provable' truth to this Clattenburg claim. However, in the meantime ...

A decision or two goes against them, and they don't seem so carefree. How odd?

Clattenburg needs hauling over the coals too, if it is true.

Chelsea haven't complained about their fans pelting Hernandez when he scored and injuring one of their own stewards then?

I'm waiting for Chelsea to lodge a formal complaint to FA for Utd fans singing.

I think they want revenge on him, just saw Torres first yellow and he was lucky not to have got a red. I don't believe this stuff but it shows chelsea still have no class.

To be fair to Chelsea, and those are words that nobody likes to say, if Clattenburg said what it is claimed he has said then they are right to report him and it is always entertaining how people's opinions on these issues change depending on who is the alleged culprit.

If they have made this up and it can be proven that they have made it up then they should be punished.

If they haven't and Clattenburg is as stupid as Terry then he should be punished.

Until then it's probably best not to let our partisan hatred of Chelsea cloud the argument too much (although if I were to place a bet on who was wrong out of a respected referee and a club full of racists, cheaters and Ashley Cole then I know where my money would be going).

Just as a matter of curiosity, does anyone think that (if, as he is reportedly accused of) calling Torres a "Spanish twat" is racist? Xenophobic, and a bit off colour, perhaps, but hardly racist.

The Mikel "Monkey" thing is clearly total bollocks though.

It's surely the same as calling someone else a 'black twat' isn't it?

Also I'm not sure there's quite the delineation between xenophobia and racism that you are suggesting.

I can sort of see your point, but imagine if, say, during an international game, a black English player was insulted. What would be considered worse - the player being called an "English ****", or a "black ****"?

Not wanting to give credence to either argument, I think this accusation is complete nonsense too.

So players can go round and call refs all types of names, which they do, quite clearly. But as soon as one gives them something back (allegedly), they cry to mummy. It gets worse this game at times.
