A fantastic post. All too often we get caught up in forgetting the humanity in football and it's nice to see we actually get to know the player for who he is rather then the smut that lines our tabloids, such as money, who they sleep with and fame. Have to say the article did have a lot of that, but it wasn't the questions, the answers and dignity Berbatov replied with is what amazed me.

Its a shame his transfer hasn't been in a more dignified manner as I wouldn't want it to leave a sour ending to a magnificent term of playing for us. For him personally I hope he achieves more then he could with us.

I would have expected the board to improve their public relations after the whole Jol/Ramos debacle. Our off the field headlines is kinda making me feel we are a laughing stock in how we seem to deal with our political affairs. Can we just let him transfer, stop playing hardball and move this on to a conclusion. I just want a settled team that we can get behind without having to listen to the constant speculation.

More quality posts such as this, that involve more then just cutting and pasting.

Love him even more. I always have a feeling that he's a down-to-earth type and a very sensitive man.

He might want to succeed more in his career and see that he has better chances with Manure, but I'm sure if we make him feel needed here, he will value that more than personal sucess. Now, for those who booed him please get some sense and sing his name if he's on the pitch against Sunderland.

Who is the best Spurs player?
Oh, I can’t say. We all are dudes.

I wish he'd stop being so shy and just name me as the woman who will be the mother of his children :-D - I'd be happy to take care of him, sleep next to him / underneath him :-D

Wish he'd stay, but I know it won't happen :-(

Spurs fans sing your name with the tune of “La donna e mobile” from Verdi’s “Rigoletto” . Do you think this is because of your image of a skirt-chaser?
{lily_lane: er, no, we're not that clever, or into highbrow culture!}

Erm, yes we are. Where did you think that melody was from?

Absolutely amazing.

Thank you for that.

If he stays, I'm getting that interview tattooed down my back.

You genuinely think that the average football fan knows La donna è mobile and the meaning behind the song?

You genuinely think the West Ham fans thought 'We need a song for Di Canio. Let's see, shall we go with '99 Red Balloons'? Naah, what about 'Agadoo'. Nope. Oooh, i know, how about a tune from Verdi's 'Rigoletto'?

I'd bet a lot of money, Spurs fans sing the song for Berby, basically 'cos it's now an official football tune - ala 'Paolo Di Canio', 'Sit Down you paedophile' and 'Sit down Pinocchio'. My guess is that the tune was used in an advert and someone caught hold of it. Maybe moreso after Italia 90.

Next week, i'm going to sing about Gareth Bale to the tune of 'Figaro'.

You seem to have missed the point of my comment David.
The interviewer asks whether Spurs fans sing Berba's song to the tune of La donna e mobile because they have made a connection between his (false) reputation as a womaniser and the plot line of the Opera. As Bomber explained above, I seriously doubt it.
I personally am a Balletomane, but when I said we, I was speaking collectively as Spurs Fans, whom I doubt are to be found en masse down Covent Garden way or at Sadler's Wells.

I wish he'd stop being so shy and just name me as the woman who will be the mother of his children :-D - I'd be happy to take care of him, sleep next to him / underneath him :-D

Could you join the queue in an orderly fashion please, and no pushing and shoving in, if you don't mind! (And no keeping a place for Netty either!)

Wish he'd stay, but I know it won't happen :-(

No, I agree, but I've reached the stage (thanks to working on this) where he'll leave with my blessing, albeit a heavy heart and many tears.

A&C said months ago that when Berba leaves "it won't be pretty" - sadly that's proven to be very prophetic, as it's turned into a tasteless saga.

Thanks to all for the kind comments and rep. I will pass it on to the translator Gabriella, in Bulgaria.
(Unfortunately I've missed some of it, as I couldn't log on until now after posting, and the CP only shows the last 5 comments and rep, but I'm sure it was all nice). :)

thats a great interview, and as above, i came out of it with a bit more respect.

it really makes you think...whom among us wouldn't chase our dreams to the top, whether it be to liverpool or united. if i was in that situation i'd like to think i'd be more principled but this makes me reconsider....

Thanks for posting - can I just say that I am very close to Daniela Arnaut and she is not a druggie nor part of the Sofia underground. I saw her a couple of weeks ago. I know the story between her and Berbatov and as we all have agreed - do not believe everything you read!!! I have this magazine and it is a good interview with great insight into the man. Nice read except these libellous side comments about a very good friend of mine!

Try watching the video of her TV interview on the BG sport site, she says herself she's "a part of the Underground music scene in Sofia".

I don't libel, so stop talking tosh.
