Seems to me Kendall that White Stripes response has left you looking like a fool. Any chance of an apology for your unmerited attack on 'Arry ?

He doesn't need to apologise. Anyway, his silence is due to him gathering a dossier of alternative quotes to back his argument.

If this one quote has generated three pages of whinging I can't wait to see what Harry's comments will generate if we fail to make any good signings.

Bloody hell, does this mean that some of you don't take everything he says to the press as a bunch of bullshit?

So rather take the stance of comical ali (What bombs, we are winning the battle), I worry about statements like this...

And pray tell me superiors, what should we read between the lines? I can only read, "if we dont make 4th dont worry I have taken Spurs far above where I inherited them, and well, we punched above our weight last season and really, if truth be known we are not as good as we think we are"

hence why my post of whether anyone else thought this statement unaccaptable?

well I read it as "you lot better get your heads out your arses if you want to win something this season"

he's letting them know that yeah you've been flying high for awhile in the CL and even beating some of the big boys but you lot were a fecking mess not long ago and if you ease up even alittle bit you'll be right back to just making up the numbers

Full of shit?

From November....

From December....

From January....

I don't see he has said anything but an open and honest assessment of where we are at any particular place in time. He's not written us off and he's never said we will win the title. He has been realistic. I also think these comments will have an echo of Daniel Levys comments ringing in his ears. Trying to rationalise the move to the OS for the good of the club and the future success. Come on people...wake up.

Hang on, the first two quotes are bigging up our title chances, saying the target is top four, but we have a chance at the title...

The last one, and most recent is him focussing on softening the not getting into the CL blow. This is a direct change of stance from Redknapp, he's gone from saying we're contenders for number one spot, to saying it's no big deal if we're not top four this season. That's pure backtracking from the man and a massive failure to admit that the team has under performed expectations this season.

“Suddenly, Spurs have got to be a Champions League team, but this side are not a million miles away from the team I took over who were fighting relegation,” said Redknapp.

Still using this get out clause?

it is unacceptable. it should be "this side is not"

To me he is reflecting the changing expectatiions of our supporters and possibly the media. VDV AND Gallas aside we are a very similar squad to when he arrived. We have a few players who have enhanced their reputations and a couple who have disappeared off the face of the earth. Under Harry we have taken big strides forward but in truth our broader Spurs community will always have groups and clans who will bear grudges for some historical slight or misdeed against St Jol or San Ramos, for example.
Harry is always available for a quote and almost inevitably someone or group will find a way of taking offence.
