Interesting report :
Spanish sports news as.com has reported today, that AVB was in Camp Nou office on May 2nd and met Barcelona director of football Andoni Zubizarreta for an hour. The report says he was there to possibly discuss possible transfer of 21 year old Barca B team midfielder Sergi Roberto. Report cannot confirm the result of the meeting but says agent is looking for a move and we are interested.

This is a guy I've really never seen, so I'll be asking others about him. But, from what I gather he's more of a DLP/Pass-Master. So, what's the difference between Roberto and Carroll? Just a better overall quality or is he a bit more willing to drive forward with the ball as well as sit deep?

I havent really seen him play either and also heard that he is a pass-master, a bit like Carroll. Only thing I can think of is that would be good to have depth there and those to probably up and coming. Or maybe thinking about loaning out Carroll to a Premier League team next year, even though id prefer him to stay

OR perhaps we're going to see the end of the likes of Livermore, Parker & Huddlestone, then replace them by promoting Carroll & bringing in this Roberto kid? That may not go down too well with many on here BUT surely it's blatantly obvious that none of the 3 'outs' I mentioned are able to 'naturally' suit AVB's preferred style of football?

3 'ok' players out, 2 'bright & clever' players in!!

Sergi Roberto is a bit like Fabregas. He can dribble, pass and often gets in a scoring position. Carroll plays more deep, and plays more simple short passes

So best to play him where? By that I mean, in a midfield 3, a midfield 5 etc etc?? Genuine questions mate, you make it sound like Roberto & Carroll could actually compliment eachother's natural game?

If that description of his style holds true, it appears he'd be more of a replacement/cover for Dembele in a 4-3-3.

I think both would fill in for Dembele, but each with its different style.

IMO they need another CM that can defend, like Sandro

I guess they could work together in a midfield 3, with Sandro behind them

If you watched Porto when Andre was there, Carroll would be Moutinho and Sergi Roberto would be Freddy Guarin

I think we need another creative midfielder, a playmaker and maybe with our budget we can't afford the moutinho, benat, clasie, banega type we need and see this fella as a cheap alternative in which case I'd be all for it. We just don't know how much cash we have but going by previous seasons we only buy big when we sell big

Not a chance in getting him I am afraid. The guy is held in very high regard at Barca for a good reason, going to have a bright future, the only way we could get him is by offering silly money which we would never do for an unproven player. Tello on the other hand maybe.

Of course insanely unlikely unless Neymar joins
