Dos Santos to Zaragoza/What barcelona thought of him!

I've just read in one of the spanish papers that he will go on loan to Zaragoza in January and team up with the mexican manager Javier Aguirre (who managed him at the world cup), there are quotes from Aguirre. i think that's probably the best move for him and hopefully he can pull in some performances and get a good price.

Later on in the article it mentions why he left Barcelona, he debuted in the first team at the same time as Bojan and was seen as the new Messi, as he could dribble, shoot and had great technique. However, the staff at the time said that he was very close to Ronaldinho who was in a downwards spiral and said that he wasn't focused, that his head wasn't in the right place. Ronaldinho was sold to AC Milan and he was shipped too, after playing 38 matches and scoring 4 goals, most of the matches he came on as a substitute.

It looks like Barcelona didn't trust him!

fook a loan, sell the kid and lets move on.......finally.
I think the problem is that teams aren't willing to buy him just yet. He hasn't played much for us, didn't set the world alite at Galatasaray or even Ipswich, and simply isn't a great catch atm. I'm sure if we received a reasonable bid for him we'd sell. But a loan is the most likely choice.

I think this could be a good move for him. I think La Liga is the ideal league for him and Zaragoza are a team he could shine for. Maybe it will be a deal that gives them first dibs in the summer. If he impresses, they might just come up with the funds for him.

Surprising really, I always assumed Redknapp didn't play him out of spite.

It is a shame it hasn't worked out but the sooner we can get rid for some cash the better for everyone involved.

Some players play better at other clubs because his style suits that particular club's way of playing. So even if he goes to Zaragoza and does well, doesnt mean we made a bad decision. Lookat Boateng at Milan, he's now a first teamer, but put him back in our lineup, and he will look like the Boateng of Spurs.

Am I going off-topic here? Hmmm....sometimes I confuse even myself.

But he's brilliant, he's going to save us with his feet and all that brilliant stuff he did, he's the future, him, Taaaaarabt and Spase Dilevski.

Send him on loan to Kidderminster and see how well he does in the conference first.

KPB always had the potential to be a good player.

Adel has 21 games.
9 goals
7 assists this season for QPR.

We will be seeing him in the Prem next season probably.

His manager at Barca was Frank Rijkaard. So he counts as staff at the time. They left at the same time.

Frank Rijkaard went on to manage Gala and it was him who struck the loan deal for GDS.

So I find it a but strange they claim his attitude was the reason, when the guy who gave him his break at Barca took him back at Gala.

GDS had 6 starts and 2 subs at Ipswich
Scored 4 and got 1 assist.
That isn't setting the world alite. He does need more games though, wherever he goes to. My point really was that he hasn't done enough to convince teams to sign him just yet. Not that he has had the opportunity to do so of course. But we dont know why he hasn't had that opportunity. There's obviously a reason he hasn't had many chances to play.

From what I heard, it was Ronaldinho, Oleguer, Giovani and Deco who were causing trouble at Barca. This obviously wasn't an issue as far as Rijkaar was concerned, because he was happy to keep them. But the on pitch performances started to suffer. Rijkaar was sacked, Pep Guardiola took over and the 4 were sold. Which says to me that Pep saw those 4 as a problem. The fact that Rijkaard took him to Galatasaray only proves that Rijkaard has a different outlook to Guardiola.

What is clear is that Barca rarely sell off their best young players without giving them a chance. So they obviously didn't fancy Giovani much. Seeing as Barca are the best judges of young talent in the world, I think that speaks volumes.

Is that the last time he scored a competitive goal?

Also, what were his stats at Barca with his 'mentor'?

And then, why if Rijkaard was so keen on him, didn't he try and make the deal permanent?

Jay Bothroyd is setting the championship alight and Rob Earnshaw was made to look like Michael Owen there, its not a good barometer of top level ability Its pretty clear Taarabt needs to have a team built around him and isnt good enough to be that player in a top level team, one day he might, and we didnt have the time to waste on waiting.

And back to Dos Santos, he must be doing something wrong to have so many managers not feel the need to give him his chance (neglecting to count every single day in training for the past 5 years as 'a chance')

Yeah, with QPR. He is doing well because he's had a team built around him as captain, I think half if not more of them goals are pens, if another team buys him, he won't have the same luxuries.

Whilst he's done well in the Championship, let's be serious here, every single one of our attacking midfielders are better players than him!

Gio, has shown flashes of quality, but he's never going to dislodge Bale or Lennon here and Harry doesn't look like he fancies him as a striker.

Aguirre, being Mexican, totally understands Gio and generally gets the best out of him. Consequently it would be logical for him to move on to Zaragoza because at W.H.L. he's seems to be his own worst enemy.
Seems to me that he had too much sucess at too young an age and simply hasn't lived up to his initial billing.
