You could very easily make a place for Costa, Son, Lamela, Alli, Eriksen and even Sessegnon in that "attacking band." Would not be in the least bit surprised to see a 4-1-4-1 at times if that were the case. If we purchase Costa (or Lemar) and Sessegnon, the players most likely to be sold continues to be Sissoko and Nkoudou.

Very interesting one. Has that big name factor some are craving, also coming from a super club in Bayern. Plus he's Brazilian (although that hasn't always worked out well for us!).

Has the pace and trickery to excite, and has experience of Guardiola's pressing game. Came from Shaktar too so should be ok with a physical game and crap conditions.

Would be an interesting one if we could pull it off. I'd probably rather Lemar but this would probably generate more waves.

Three things are an issue - wages, age and price. You'd have to have a perfect storm for this one to work. The guy is 26 going on 27. Why would Levy spunk 20m quid on him when he could have just 3 good years left with no sell on value? The wages are going to be high as well.

3 good years in a player is actually a good investment for 20m. If that was to help us reach the next level, win trophies and stay competitive in that period.

Sell on value is a critical piece in all of this based on how Spurs approach transfers. That is why we target younger players with a positive upside on their value.

Sissoko and Soldado?

I agree we do usually get the younger options but I think 20m does represent excellent value as I don't think we would be thinking of selling a player on of this calibre and age. Plus, 26 isn't that old.

he would still fetch at least 10-12m by 29.

We also tried with Njie, Nkoudou... both flop.

He is turning 27 not 30, you should expect 5 years which would include the prime years of his career.

Costa looks good. GKN could be his understudy:

Lloris - Lopez
Trippier - Walker Peters
Toby - CCV
Verts - Wimmer
Rose - Sessegnon
Wanyama - Lesniak
Dembele - Onomah
Costa - GKN
Eriksen - Winks
Kane - Janssen

(Dele, Dier, Lamela and Son don't have any.)

Interesting to see our ongoing policy of keeping a combo of youth and experience. I think its ideal.

A 10 player team and a 20 player squad seems a bit ballsy to me
