If he signs, we have to get him on De Gea's case early in Monday's game, rough him up a bit.

Given De Gea's decidedly average start, I imagine he will be crapping himself at the thought of Adebayor.

its probably been posted before but the interview he gave with the bbc has really impressed me, i think he comes off looking like a smart, articulated and level headed guy despite all the shit we have given him and how he was eventually treated at man city.

he says he wants to just be happy playing football and it sounds like he wants to feel wanted, if we can do that and get him playing to his ability he will be a very welcome addition

"Last month Adebayor made headlines for both the right and wrong reasons. His two goals against Tottenham in the Champions League quarter-final effectively ended the north London club's dream of progressing in the competition. But chants alleged to contain "racial overtones" caused some campaigners to ask Uefa, European football's governing body, to take action.

"I heard about it and I felt so bad because before joining Real Madrid my first choice was Tottenham. I was supposed to move to Tottenham," he reveals.

"I was supposed to sign for Tottenham but everything went and Madrid came in. It is bad because people have to realise that we are footballers. Today we play for this club, tomorrow we may end up playing for them. So what about if I'm wearing Tottenham's shirt tomorrow? As their player, are they going to encourage me or are they still going to sing that song?"

The video in that BBC link is pretty awesome. I thought Adebayor would be a good signing for us but wasn't a big choice of mine but from watching the 10 minute clip I now hope that we are close to signing him as I think his attitude will be suprisingly refreshing and of course his ability is very much needed.

Hopefully Harry hasn't fucked it all up by opening his mouth to the press before it's been completed...

Emmanuel Adebayor is set to spend the season on loan at Tottenham after manager Harry Redknapp confirmed both Spurs and Manchester City were in talks over the proposed move

The Togo star could even be signed in time to make his Spurs debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Spurs will sign Emmanuel Adebayor on loan from Man City (PA)
Manager Harry Redknapp has been looking at bringing Adebayor to White Hart Lane for some time, however, his £170,000-a-week wages were too high for Spurs to pay.
That hurdle now appears to be cleared though with a joint wage structure being finalised.
Talking ahead of tomorrow's Europa League match against Hearts, Redknapp said club chief Daniel Levy was working overtime to secure the 27-year-old's signature.

'The chairman is talking to Man City about the player but where they (the negotiations) are at, I genuinely don't know,' Redknapp said.

The former Arsenal striker has struggled to nail down a first team place since moving to the Etihad Stadium and was shipped out on loan to Real Madrid at the end of last season.

Adebayor said that he would love to return to the Bernabeu, but it looks like boss Jose Mourinho is going to place his faith in fit-again Gonzalo Higuain and rejuvenated French forward Karim Benzema.
Redknapp has been looking to bring in a striker and this week he completed a £3.5million deal with LA Galaxy for the transfer of Robbie Keane.
The proposed move also suits City who are hoping to cut their wage bill, with players like Adebayor and Craig Bellamy surplus to requirements.

IF Ade play vs Utd (big big IF) I can actually see us winning against them for the first time in how long? Would be great. De Gea is looking shaky and nervous, they don't have any of their top defenders except for Evra in shape and hopefully we can stop Rooney/Berba (Hernandez is injured). A win away against Utd would be one of the best season openers I could ever imagine, just because we haven't beaten them in such a long time.

I think your right, definetly something to do with the shooting and safety of the national squad. Will only benifit us in the times of the african cup of nations.

Lets hope we have some CM fit for that game.

We're the team who scored the most goals from outside the box last season (15) in the league. I can see VDV and Hudd shooting on sight on Monday.

monday could be great for a variety of reasons, adebayor making his debut against a young keeper with the frame of crouch, bullying him and scoring a hat-trick and having our very own gomes to aim at! pot shots from anywhere i say!

Knowing how things normally go against us, I predict De Gea to have a blinder!
