when on loan the loaning team rarely allows the loaned out player to play against them...

That's my understanding of the situation. The only thing that put doubt in my mind was one of the ITKs suggesting that the deal was dragging on because Levy was looking to pay them a few bob extra so that he could play against them.

I think its Premier league rules that a loan move for player cannot play aganst his parent club. Got nothing to do with the 2 clubs agreement, its a premier league rule.

Watch the video on the first page. I always thought adebayor was a twat, but ive got more respect for the guy after watching that. Didnt take our nasty songs to heart, and said about how he could end up at spurs - well well will you look at that.

He'll be awesome for spurs.

...for a year....

then after scoring 20 goals in the league, City will say 'thank you', take him back and sell him on to a club that can actually afford to pay him.

When did the "Bed & Breakfast" sign go up over WHL???

Not the first time an ITK was talking out of his arse, then. I think you are correct.

If he does that, we'll have a great chance of getting Champions League football. If we need to replace him after that, well...we'll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.

Great signing. Man City have made a big mistake.

I'm sure we've agreed a fee with City if we want to buy him. In the extremely unlikey case that we don't, the 20 league goals he scores will fire us into the Champions League and put us in a better position to sign a "top, top" striker on a permanent bases.

It's sad we have to do loans

But if that's the case then I'm delighted with Adebayor

If we can just get that stadium ;)

When did having a brilliant striker for a year become a bad thing?

Where have you been? No loanees can play against the club that they're contracted to so we won't see him until Wolves.

i didn't realise that was a rule for ALL loaned players; i just thought it was a commonly adopted policy.

Wish I had your (unfounded) optimism.... as I recall, the last time we got into the Champions League, we made didn't manage to sign a "top top" striker - hence the reason we're not in that competition this year.

Brilliant? Really? That must be why City didn't want to sell/loan him.

Unbelievable. Throw a white shirt on somebody and suddenly half of the people on this forum automatically think he's the 2nd coming of Glenn Hoddle....

I'll reserve judgement for the time being. Let's just see what happens.

Obviously I'd prefer to have him signed for more than one season, but at least we have another year to sort something out, whilst being able to call upon exactly the type of striker we need.

Like I say, let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

I think when you have Aguero, Tevez and Dzeko ahead of you you can still be brilliant. He has got a brilliant strike rate, if you actually watch him play you would think it is exactly what we need. Most people have thought he is exactly what we need all window, some when it looked impossible. Mind he is so terrible that Madrid took him, and he actually did well there. That must mean Madrid are worse then City.

Tall, strong, fast, good in the box, good outside the box, good in the air, good shot, has technique, can pass, gooners hate him.

Chuffed with this, just hope there's an option to buy but even if not, at least we've got him for a year. This could be the difference between 6th and 3rd.

On August 3rd I put my money where my mouth is and asked anyone to match my bet of £100 that Ade would sgin before the transfer deadline the loser to donate to this site. BC took my bet and Im sorry you had to lose but so glad not only for the club as this will be a great signing but also for this site COYS
