Brilliant? Really? That must be why City didn't want to sell/loan him.

You just had him down to score 20 goals! The point is, if your scenario occurs then we've done well. I don't know why you're complaining it's a loan but now you don't appear to rate him. Surely you'd be glad it's only a loan then?

I think we have a perennial pessimist on our hands unfortunately.

Excellent signing, but I think we need more than simply a loan.

If we could sign Cahill, Diarra and Huntelaar, shifting say Bassong (even though I rate him above Dawson), Palacios and one of Crouch, Defoe and Pav we'd be very very strong.

Not going to happen though. I reckon this could be the end of our transfer window, 2 loans, 2 kids and a free. Not owing to lack of ambition IMO, but more a lack of demand for our fringe.

On August 3rd I put my money where my mouth is and asked anyone to match my bet of £100 that Ade would sgin before the transfer deadline the loser to donate to this site. BC took my bet and Im sorry you had to lose but so glad not only for the club as this will be a great signing but also for this site COYS

You did indeed mate, don't worry BC will pay up with a smile on his face

Under the circumstances, with the usual unrealistic options out of the question, I think Adebayor is realistically the best possible signing we could have made up front. In fact, I would have wanted him ahead of a couple of the unrealistic ones.

I would have loved us to buy him outright, which some ITK's suggested might happen, but I'll settle for the loan.

I've just got back from the game, in a hotel room, so can't make my £100 donation on this network, but will tomorrow.

BC is a scholar and a gent. Opinionated he may be, but he has never shyed away from making generous donations to the site.

I don't understand why everyone seems disappointed that we failed to sign him. He isn't young and therefore doesn't have alot of resale value. He has proven ability so a loan-deal is effectively 'what you pay is what you get' - perfect for our situation.

No more Defoe...VdV and Adabayor = :twisted::cheers::supered:

Look at these players we have..Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Sandro, Adebayor...these are 'top top players', the likes of which I haven't even seen us come close to having in such numbers until recently. We usually end up having to sell our 'one good player' in order to bring another in. Now we're keeping hold and adding to them.

And you haven't even mentioned the best of the lot.

I thought i'd take a look through the early pages of this thread.....
I'll burn White Hart Lane to the ground before I see that **** wear the Lilywhite shirt.
A chilling prediction of the riots?

Then we had something really embarrassing
If we sign him I will run down the Tottenham High Road, naked, whirling my willy around my head like a lassoo until it makes that sound an aboriginal bullroarer makes

A plea for reality
Get real here,he is a Man City player and they will never sell him to us!
Erm, yeah........

This one too
Are we seriously imagining hed take a huge pay cut, lose CL football to come to a club that's spent the last 5 years shouting abuse at him ?
Erm yeah

And finally, SK who would like us to sign him. Shock.
If Tottenham signed Adebayor, I would be very happy......

Was gonna but he just doesn't play often enough anymore to be regarded as one of our main men. But undoubtedly top class even now. I think Kaboul is coming on very nicely though. After King, he should be our first choice defender, for me.

For me, until he finally retires, he'll always be one of our main men.

I can't wait for the day when I see King, Bale, Modric, Sandro, VDV and Adebayor all starting. It might never happen.

But then again it just might
