There is nothing untoward about that and besides, he could have just gone to a rival paper or announced it himself if he didn't like what Sun on Sunday were doing, the story is that big (even though it shouldn't be) that agent would have even had copy approval.
Sun on Sunday is the best way to go, highest circulation and will actually reach the people who are more likely to make up the dodgy chants. The paper offers his business team opportunity to exploit the situation for the massive financial gains and maximise the players public exposure.

Untoward was a poor choice of word. You'd like to think the media have put on hold the phone tapping thing for the time being. Maybe a paparazzi got a pic of him kissing some guy or something and they then contacted the player?

Perhaps but the cynic in me thinks that whoever Player G already knows that he's on the plane barring injury and this way he'll make an obscene amount of money as advertisers line up to chase the pink pound.

It's obviously not a Liverpool player because it's the Sun

I'd like to think it is but it probably isn't.

I know when Gareth Thomas (welsh rugby player) came out the support he received was great. He was suicidal at times and when he told his fellow teammates they said "why the fuck didn't you tell us sooner" and he just broke down. Anyone who gives this player shit should be dealt with IMO
As crazy as this sounds, I think the Rugby world would be much more accepting than football fans.

Football fans can be real douchebags, not to mention football is a truly world wide sport and players do come from areas that ban homosexuality and etc.

There would hate that part of the world imo though probably all internet based from fans and probably even investors. Some of the people from these countries can be narrow-minded and being associated with a gay player. Brighton also get homophobic chants sung at them despite complaints. There is alot of awareness with racism and even thats not dead.

As for the players themselves I have no clue but I can see some deeply religious players having issue with it. Also in my experience in life, people from ethnic backgrounds tend to be less accepting of gay people and thats no wonder since their countries of origin don't have gay rights or even allow homosexuality.

Until i saw it said Premier League player, i was sort of hoping it was Woy.

Not for my own sexual shenanigans, simply because that would be just immense - the England team being led to the world cup by a gay pensioner would fit right in with the UK's current high quality brand of gay pensioner.

Smalling.
He has a girlfriend last time I checked

This has kind of turned in to a witch hunt for the next couple days now. So might as well try and guess who it is. It has to be one of these players:

Joe Hart (Man City)
Glen Johnson (Liverpool)
Chris Smalling (Man Utd)
Gary Cahill (Chelsea)
Ashley Cole (Chelsea)
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)
Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)
Steven Gerrard (c) (Liverpool)
Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)
Wayne Rooney (Man Utd)
Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)

Luke Shaw (Southampton)
Adam Lallana (Southampton)
Danny Welbeck (Man Utd)
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal)
Andros Townsend (Tottenham)
James Milner (Man City)

Now I was reading the mail science section this morning and one study found that gaydar does exist but only women have it! so women of SC enlighten us!

There were a lot of rumours about a gay Spurs player back 25 years ago who was also an international.

The world is a bigger place nowadays.

See I was thinking about this the other day, is football ready for a openly gay footballer. Here is the response Michael Sam got after announcing he was gay.(Michael Sam is a leading college american footballer)

This was his ranking(NFL draft) the night before the announcement of him announcing he was gay to the day after!

He has gone from a potential first round pick, to not being picked. Though some teams have said they will have him.

After his announcement players, teams and GM's said they wouldn't want him in their team. Is football that different. Worth noting this sport has accused rapist, dog killers, potential murder suspect and etc. and this is where a sport draws the line.

Is football ready, I'm not sure.

Sam, while a good college player, never had a realistic shot at going in the top 2 rounds even before his coming out.

For those that don't know, there are 7 total rounds and the top two rounds are typically where the stud athletes with the stats AND measurables go.

Sam really always was going to be a round 4-5 guy.

There's also an openly gay player in the NBA. Jason Williams on the Brooklyn Nets.

It's probably someone without recognizable star power. Someone on Norwich or Villa maybe.
