fabios brave new world my ringer, same core players who all underachieved and added some fringe players at the expense of other fringe players.

Great news for us but seriously how could any sane person select Walcott or Young over Lennon and also select Wes Brown! WTF!

Cause he scores a great goal, he should be called up to the squad?

If thats the case then he should look at League 2 and 1 sides!

not really but rose made a bigger impact in 45 mins for spurs than wilshere did for le arse all season and rose has had a very good pre season

To be fair to Wilshere he is a cracking little player, shame he's also a dirty little shit (remember his tackle on BAE last season whilst playing for Bolton).

Gibbs is also a good player in an area where England have little strength in depth.

nb. i feel quite sick and dirty for posting in favour of a couple of gooner scummers!

as has been said good news for spurs overall, with our crowded schedule coming up

so hope DAws get his first cap nevertheless - he deserves it and should be fairly rested, having not played today

lennon is correctly dropped, has been out of form for months and was rightly dropped in the world cup

hart will start i'm sure - 4 games too late - we could have got to the semi-finals had he played v US instead of the 'calamity couple'

shocking IMO no Lennon or Huddlestone from a Tottenham prospective.

Great news, would've preferred no players in. Hopefully Daws doesn't pick up any injuries.

I think Mullers summed it up perfectly on Page 1 tbh

I think Capello just wants to take a look at some other players, most of these won't be seriously considered for qualifiers. No idea why he brought Walcott back though.

I dont believe that all of those who went to the WC that are not involved on Weds have been dropped. It is a friendly game where Capello has chosen to look at a number of players that he didnt take to the WC. I believe he has kept the spine of the WC squad there as they are the players who will play in the qualifiers coming up. If he was thinking of making changes to the starting XI then the likes of Lampard would have been dropped.

It is now down to the likes of Green, Upson, Lennon, Huddlestone, Parker, Crouch, SWP, Defoe, Cole to fight with the likes of Johnson, Walcott, Cahill, Gibbs, Wilshere, Cole, Zamora for the fringe places in the squad for qualifiers.

All this squad has told me really is that Capello will keep pretty much the same side for the near future at least. A big shame IMO as our spine are clearly not good enough - this was a great chance (i mean the next few months/qualifiers, not just Wednesday) to give some of our talent some more experience.

Have to echo the sentiments of some of the previous posts. Great news for us...shit news for the immediate future of the England national team.

Personally I still care deeply about the England football team. I used to dream about playing for my country...I used to idolise great English players (even ones like Le'Tissier that hardly ever played for England). I want to see this country produce brilliant footballers, and I want to see this country produce outstanding international teams to be proud of.

That squad looks uglier than my mother-in-law's rusty fanny ring after having just failed the crab cake and tequila challenge.

Maybe Harry's objections to the fixture have shaped Capello's thinking....although I am very surprised Huddlestone and Rodwell are not in there.

I'll laugh if the starting XI includes: Johnson, Brown, Terry, A Cole; Walcott, Barry, Lampard, Gerard; Rooney, C Cole. Laugh, and cry.

My thoughts exactly. Adam Johnson and hopefully Dawson are the only ones who may have a better chance to play any serious part in the regular squad, imo. Barry, Gerrard and Lampard are still there, which means they will have to be central figures in midfield again - the major area where England were shown to be severely lacking in South Africa and even before that.

Great news for us i hope Daws can get a note from his mummy to keep him out the england squad.
Seriously I wonder if Fabio's 43 days with the players and tactics have damaged Lennon. His confidence may need re-building which hopefully Harry can start on.

How can Capello still not get it?

Our senior players let us down for about the 4th year in a row so what should be the first decision?
Bin the current crop of Lampard, Heskey and Barry and promote the 'fringe' senior players of Carrick, Cole and Crouch to see what they can do given a chance.

Then bring in the first tier of youngsters. These are the youngsters with lots of Premiership experience such as Huddlestone, Young, Milner and Lennon.

I don't have an issue with Wilshere and Gibbs as they are the next generation which the 3rd tier of this squad should be.

But Wes Brown? Words fail me.

We have the young, Premiership and Internationally experienced Micah Richards so why the hell would we put Brown ahead of him?

Hopefully Capello will continue to ignore Daws and doesn't bother playing him again (just this game so he's fit for Man City on Saturday).

It's a pretty mind boggling squad though isn't it? If this is what Capello thinks England's future looks like then it's pretty bleak, isn't it?!

I do think the spurs players have been rested rather than dropped because of our CL involvement(defoe and king are "injured" anyway).

Rooney shouldnt be playing - he's only played 45 minutes since the WC..and was shit once again. BUT...if fergie is willing to rest him in the early part of the season to give him a rest, WTF is capello playing him.

Barry should never be there....i think he is an absolute pile of wank. Also, dont particuarly get what all the rave up is about Milner.

As for those saying lennon deserved to be dropped.. if heskey had been any sort of striker, Lennon would have had 3 assists.. more than any other bloody england player - but i do think the england squad has done him no favours at all. Glenn Johnson shouldnt be allowed to push him inside so much.

I only hope this is not a sign of things to come, because if it is, the wrong players have been dropped!
