@dontcallme What's your take on the Jol/Harry/Poch situations then?! The 'Harry wanted the England job' is a red herring imho, Levy took the piss with the January signings, Jol had Berba gone with no replacement/s and Poch just got royally fucked over for two consecutive summers!! To me that indicates the club hierarchy have no real interest in pitch side glory, despite the signage around the ground!!

Was talking about on the pitch.

What happens off the pitch is mutually exclusive to what happens on it. ;)

Too early to predict what will happen to us anyway, Arsenal are in their 15th year since moving stadiums, we are in our 2nd.

Anyone know anything about this?
The article appears really weak.

Spurs-web quoting Football Insider doesn't scream high level, in the know journalism.

I just wondered as it isn't one of those 'we understand that ENIC might be interested in selling' articles - it was pretty specific.

I guess you could argue Leicester City

The stadium will earn us a lot, when it re-opens, £5.5m per game (I think) is just insane even by Real Madrid's standards. However, as Real Madrid showed, commercial success is uno numero, proving that big commercial dealers want winners.

Take the art World for example, Bilbao has a stunning modern art gallery, but the Lovre has all the paintings. Tottenham has the stadium, but not the players. I've never been all for mad spending, just look at Arsenal and Liverpool when they have times and Manchester United, and that's why it's so upsetting. 2016 was a real chance to push on and do not just big things but massives without having to spend staggering amounts and we didn't take our chance.

As for the long term impact of the stadium, on as well as off the pitch, we'll wait and see.

You could but then every club is different, every club have different budgets, owners, expectations, players etc... my point is that we should never be compared to anyone as a prediction of how or fortunes will turn out, no-one knows how things will turn out really.

One thing you're right about, let's wait and see :)

Said Arsenal.

Don’t think you can compare the Emirates to our stadium to be honest. Ours provides a lot more revenue streams. Flexible for different spots/events.
We haven’t seen it up and running for a long period of time yet. I think after it is it will be chalk and cheese between the two.

The issue I have with Enic is if they had a choice of spending 500m on players to win the league and champions league or pay 1 billion for a stadium they would choose the stadium because they will get that money back with a sale

And that (spending money unhealthy in players) is not how any club or business should operate. Firstly you can not compare an investment of infrastructure to investment in players. It appears different in thr books and its not like " hEy bOsS we HaVE 1 bIlLioN HeRe, wHAT to dO?"

You get usually a lot of financial support by government and others to invest in infrastructure. And this infrastructure will be there in 10-50 years as well, the players not.

Mistakes have been made, to blame Enic for investing in infrastructure to give us far more possibilities in the long run is laughable.

That wasn't the choice though, banks would never haver loaned us money for players like the loaned us money for the stadium, for the reasons you've stated

That's not how loans work.

There was another poster thinking we could have got a £750m stadium and spent £250m on players instead of £1b on the stadium.

It's the public having thought processes like this is why democracy doesn't work.

We’re stuck with these money grabbing ****s now. No chance anyone will afford the valuation of our club after the super league money comes in.

How many more managers does Levy have to show the door to before people realise he is the main problem at the club.
Trouble is it doesn't really matter. Unless or until ENIC are willing to sell/a buyer can be found willing to spend well over a billion, it's a moot point.
