My point was really that he’s not getting any younger. They’ve more or less done the hard work, like I said barring some absolute disaster like relegation or some horrendous new form Covid the profit is there to cash in at some point. So why not have a bit of fun with your investment before you pop off ?
He's having fun right now. the dude lives on a freakin yacht and probably pops viagra daily and gets all the action.

Sorry, I honestly have no idea what point you're trying to make. None of what you've said seems to relate to anything I've said. Maybe I'm tired because it's Friday evening and I'm missing it completely.

I've already said it's impossible for him not to be involved in decisions because he sets the budget, signs the cheques.

Signing a player and deciding what wages we pay him is both a football and business decision, but the business is within the budget Levy sets for Paratici and Nuno.

Perhaps I haven’t understood you.

My point is that a “business decision” is more than just setting a budget. Levy has to consider re-sell value of players. He has to consider wage levels. He has to consider payment schedules.

The following can both be true:

* Traore is the best player we can buy for our current budget.
* There is a large risk that he won’t be a guaranteed starter and we could be trying to move him on next summer for a prohibitively high fee and wages.

It is surely appropriate for Levy to have an opinion on the second point.

But if you include Romero and Gollini who are near enough certain buys it goes to near on 100m which puts us 2nd.
What is great is if people include the fees for Romero and Gollini in next season's spend then we'll be told they were from last season.

Whatever way you want to frame it, it's good news for Spurs that he is in such a position, I think clubs of our size will be very happy their isn't a monopoly of the giants being represented there and hopefully will lead to the benefits which come from decisions to be better spread.

Atalanta President Antonio Percassi: “We are Atalanta and at certain figures Atalanta has a duty to sell. The operation allowed us to make investments of more than 60 million. Without the sale of Romero it would not have been possible to expand the workforce in all departments.”

Doesn’t sounds to me like there’s any doubt about Romero continuing beyond his loan. So however you slice it, and however the fee is spread, we’ve committed that much money to him.

Only posting as I’ve seen a lot of ‘again no real net spend’ type comments around the place and it feels like with Romero, Gil, Emerson and Sarr we’ve committed a good £100m+ without any real significant return from Alderweireid, Sissoko, Foyth. I’m sure the wage reduction is a huge help but even so, only Arsenal and Manchester United spent more.

That doesn’t shock me. There’s little chance any of the PL clubs would want a Man City representative on the board. No wonder Soriano’s only support came from Chelsea. I think we’ll see some subtle movements against the money clubs despite PSG’s owners involvement in the board. Man City are more of a threat than PSG as they’re in our league.

Wasn’t it just a matter of months ago that we suddenly discovered that we were part of that planned monopoly of giants?

Makes sense that the PL chairmen who know how tough he is to negotiate with want him representing their interests in Europe.
