There have been bids! Ecuador's Enner Valencia chased by Spurs, Everton and Newcastle
TOTTENHAM, Everton and Newcastle will battle it out for Ecuador's World Cup star Enner Valencia after his current side Pachuca confirmed they had already received bids for the striker.
The 25-year-old has been one of the stand-out performers in Brazil so far, helping himself to three goals in just two matches.

Despite only joining Pachuca in January, where he has already scored 18 times in 23 games, Valencia is open to a European move, and reports claim that Spurs are leading the race for his signature.

Everton and Newcastle are also interested in landing the powerful forward, who is equally capable on the wing, and Pachuca's vice-president Andres Vassi admits it will be hard to hold on to Valencia after the club received big-money offers.

Not seen anything of him apart from the 2 WC games, but can't argue with his performance in either and who knows what his consistency would be like. I would trust Baldini and Poch if they went for him but it's likely just bullshit isn't it?

I mean, he's obviously a good player, but I can't help but think that we should have a more comprehensive and holistic transfer plan than "sign whoever looks decent at that tournament in Brazil or summat."

Still, this one interests me.

18 in 23 is a ridiculous strike rate, and though it's not the EPL the Mexican league is actually decent. Could be worth a punt, no riskier than players like Batshuayi or Konoplyanka.

On hot form, scored six games in a row for Ecuador.
Only converted into a striker after Christian Benitez died last year,
in total 29 games 25 goals after he started playing up front.

Wasn't there some ITK or some news on this guy before England played Ecuador in that friendly?

Yeah was one of those "my mate is friends with an agent who reps the player and the agent said people are talking about a transfer"

Think even with the lack of ITK this summer virtually everyone ignored it

Christian Benitez died. Did he use to play for Birmingham. Terrible news

It was the day before the England friendly and it seemed like a little whoring before his client was on global scene by his agent. One thing that was pointed out I remember was his heading ability and true enough of the 4 goals I've seen him score now 3 are with his head despite him looking quite slight. It's always worth looking left field to see if there is an untapped gem I just can't tell from a few games if this guy is the real deal

It was me.

My friend told me that a few EPL clubs were interested in Enner Valencia and we were one of them. One of his mates is an agent so he hears a few things from time to time.

I don't know much more other than his aerial ability was mentioned as a strength.

Yeah I just thought I'd post as I hadn't heard of him either so wanted to see if anyone knew anything about him.

My mate was basically told that this guy is getting rave reviews as a potentially amazing value buy (probably a bit more expensive now!!) and he has pace and aerial ability, can play a few different positions etc.

Have kept an eye on him since. He looks a player. Not really a target man but great movement and more of a poacher.

He impressed again tonight, despite being isolated and having to feed off scraps for most of the match. Has all the physical attributes (strength, speed and one hell of a leap), and he showed intelligence with his movement and solid hold up play.
