Has a legitimate source backed this up or is the only source Football Insider?

This is where Levy goes wrong. He thinks he can get 20m for him if he’s under contract instead of just letting him run it down and go. In so doing, he won’t fetch that but he will then be impossible to get shot of given his obvious (to everyone else) limitations

Has anyone at the club actually watched him in the last few games 🤬.
He has been awful.
On the plus side with a better coach we know he can do better.
Probably a safe squad player

1. Why should we care where he goes.
2. Who cares if he’s Spurs thru and thru. You can’t keep people at the club for sentimental reasons.
Save the sentimental stuff for a player's retirement years and let him become a host in the stadium's restaurants or hospitality suites.

Levy often overestimates the amount of money he can get for a player. If an experienced and savvy DoF/GM type of person says a certain player will fetch a certain fee, but no more, then the football person's more likely to be right than someone like Levy is.

Adds a few quid onto sale value…. Hopefully

Depends what wages he's on, or will be on. I'd only offer a contract on lower wages but with top bonuses, then with any luck we won't get saddled with another player we can't shift in the future.

Signing Dier to an extension with probably increased wages shows how little our Chairman knows about football and just highlights why our club never achieves anything. It's the best time to move him on as he is still an England player and could command a reasonable fee that could be used for improving our defense.

This also link with the new manager search. Are we going for a back 3 or 4 manager? Cause that determine whether Dier is ok or useless.

Perfectly plausible but seeing as DL has now lost his football advisory it’s now all on him to make even more crap decisions without any accountability.
Who in the club feels it is right to be offering new contracts to players, apart from H, at the moment when we haven’t got a manager?
It’s absolutely ridiculous and just sums the club up.

Wasn’t a first choice under Poch and hasn’t really progressed since those days, so no idea why the club think he’s the man to tie down and be part of the future. Sigh.

Signing him on for longer before we have a new manager is another unforced error in the making. We have a serious problem at centre half, so it's not surprising that Dier is being considered for a new contract. He's not great but he's getting a game for a reason!

But these types of decisions taking place while we have a managerial void - pre-empting and possibly tying up a manager's options - show we're just a fancier version of Watford. Despite 20 years at the helm and stumbling upon 3 managers that actually worked out, Levy appears none the wiser about team building and why a manager is the crux of good outcomes. He thinks it's just a case of adding people together and then demanding someone lead them to success.
