This is going way out on a limb here but I'd keep him for one more year and play him as Eriksen and Kane's back up. I think he's best at no.10 but also get the feeling he will end his career as a striker, like Van Persia has. His first season was a write off so he's effectively had one less season to prove himself than people give him credit for.

I know its probably out of the ballpark optimism but I reckon next year will be his year to shine. I hope we show some faith.

Funny as soon as someone expresses interest I suddenly want to keep the player at all costs

I still believe this guy can be a top notch player - but not in the EPL. Some players are simply not made for the EPL but will prosper elsewhere.
Spurs should still be able to get £20M+ for because, apart from the talent he's shown in the past (at Roma), he's shown that he's got the right attitude and work rate - as opposed to Ade - which is important for his eventual new club.
I was never keen him as very few offenseive players hailing from Seri A have made it in the EPL.
Ironically, one of them is Coutinho who's compared with Lamelea in this link:

What, you mean he'll score 2goals?
A man with one leg would be a improvement so thats not much of an ask is it.
Been here 2 seasons already ffs.
I think that's long enough to show what you've got in anybodys book.

Coutinho has scored 4 goals this season - and was selected inthe Team of the Year.
Yes, one shold expect more goals from him but your reaction is simply dumb.
Here's the stat compared with those of Coutinho (I know stats are not the only way to assess a player though):

You cannot be serious comparing Coutinho to Lamela surely.

Seriously I am.... not  I said one can't reduce a player to stats alone. What I meant is that he's not as terrible as some claim him to be. And some seem to reduce him his stat alone, like scoring goals. In that case he's just 2 goals worse than Coutinho ;) I have no problem seeing Lamela go for a "good price" as long as a RWF replacement is brought in right away/before.

LOL Do you really think Levy will sell him at a 9/10 million loss?

From the the little I know of Levy (from the papers and ITK) I am pretty sure the price quoted for Lamela included a lots of adds-ons - most them never activated (like winning the CL, Double, scoring 30 EPL goals etc.)

He clearly would suit the Italian or Spanish league better. However he is extremely gifted if we could unlock the talent and add the right attitude he could be one of the best. For me he is a keeper as I think Poch has the best chance of bringing out his best. That said he is also more easily sold than Soldado or Paulinho Due to his age and clear talent.

Last season was injury blighted and is what it is whether you accept that or not.

Interesting though that Poch has seemed to have cooled on him somewhat compared to the beginning of the season....

Agree with others should be back up to Erickson as a number 10. He is most effective behind the striker not as effective out wide IMO.

He needs to work on his strength if he's going to be a success here.

Don't call my view dumb because it's different to yours.
Imo your talking utter bollocks making a comparison between Lamela and Coutinho.
I didn't go into depth granted but is it necessary?
Surely you don't think I'm basing my assessment of Lamely purely on his goals scored? That would be dumb.

His attitude isn't really an issue, he just needs to work at his strength, speed and speed of decision making.
The first 2 are what the coaches will help to improve, as they did with Kane. The last will come as the first 2 improve.

He has more natural talent than Kane and Rose, both who have vastly improved under our coaching regime.

Lamela will come good.

Question: Has he done any worse than Lallana at Liverpool who went for similar money but with the benefit of actually playing in England his whole career to date??? Any reports of teams offering him an escape from Liverpool???

If they are offering decent money then we'd be daft not to take it at this stage.

But if they try and low-ball us too much it's probably worth giving him one more season to see if he'll finally do something.
