I really don't get the Eriksen love in on this board

He is a good player but away from set pieces his game is limited and he goes missing a lot

We should pay him nowhere near 100k a week

Go watch our win against Man U again from last season.

Surprised he's still on £30k in today's footballing world. I remember when we got Teddy Sheringham a new contract at £10k p/w which was astronomical and doesn't seem all that long ago.

Goes missing in games a lot, offer him 50k plus performance related bonuses to keep him on his toes

He dictates our play- that is the complete opposite of going missing. You probably think 'going missing' equates to not scoring many goals. Just because what he does is more subtle, it doesn't mean he's missing from the game. He's so vital to our team, I'm frankly surprised that there are quite a few Spurs fans that don't rate him highly.

Sure he had a great game, everyone has them, but I think Eriksen is very inconsistent

I too think he could stand to be a bit more consistent but I think the Man U game is a great example of how he is not a limited player at all.

Obviously he's not as good as Modric was but he has a similar role in that he assists the assist most of the time; created more chances than anyone but crazy eye man last season.

Some people never really understood what Modric did either and preferred Steed Malbranque

I would not sell him, he is a talented player, but I just don't get the almost god like reverance about him

I'm please to confirm that he is in my future plans for this club. I've recommended that we up his contract in light of this.

Kane will soon be on 100k, and new contracts for other key players will be in the 70-90 range.
We must raise our wages like everyone else with the new TV deal.
Not go crazy, Levy will handle this, but players will demand more with the new TV income - and we must decide whether we want to be up there competing. Or whether we want to sell Eriksen and Lamela and reinvest in new potential.
Reckon Eriksen will get a 80k deal soon, smart to give it to him before Lamela come with his 100k demand.

Teams have often focused on marking him out of the game more than Lamela or Alli, so he gets less space and time on the ball. This doesn't make him a worse player! When he has a quiet game (i.e. "goes missing"), he is still occupying players and creating space, to enable the rest of our team to play.

Modric suffered from similar criticism in his first season at Real Madrid (he was widely touted as the flop signing of the year), even though his opta stats were actually good.

Im amazed that someone who follows spurs can muster any dislike of Eriksen.
Hes a top player and hes still just 23-24. I think overall hes been nothing but brilliant since he came. Yes hes gone missing in a match or two...or five, and had a period out of form, but who hasn't??
He, toghether with lamela, kane, alli, dembele, dier etc are the kind of players we need to hold on to by all means.

He was the second most creative player in the league last season but his game is limited and he goes missing? Yeah, nah.

I get that you are a contrarian and all that but that is just plain wrong.

£30k/week? Good Lord, triple that and it's worth it for me. Get this and Lamela done (with GKN signed) and I'm completely smitten.

Ahhhh, the Dane who devides opinion. I'm not too sure why.

Put it this way, if he was to be sold now then all those who think he's overrated would very quickly realise how much we'd miss him. He is such a quality player. Because he isn't on the ball all the time, or because he isn't flying into tackles, doesn't mean he's going 'missing'. His movement and positional sense is fantastic off the ball.

I judge our lads on if they would get into the first 11 of the 'big' clubs - utd, city, Chelsea, arse. He definitely would. To be honest I can't think of many players from the teams I've mentioned who'd get in our first 11.

I'm not a deluded fan who thinks we're better than we are. But I honestly think we have the best 11 in the league.

I also think we have the best manager. Despite Guardiola et al, I would not swap Poch.

I'm not saying I expect us to win the league. Top 4 would be fantastic again IMO. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see us challenge for the title again.

Having faith in the whole Spurs setup is such an odd feeling. But a quite marvellous one.
