Siggy, Lloris, and Vertonghen as well.

Not a lot of creativity there. I've said it before but we're basically turning into a more technically capable version of Everton. With the exception of Bale we were shit to watch last season, and offered about as much movement and creativity as a block of flats.

I doubt we'll concede many goals as we'll just muscle the opposition off the ball. Just shame we won't be able to do much with it once we've got it.

Soldado was a fantastic signing but I'm worried that he's going to be in for a shock when he realises how few chances we'll be able to create for him.
According to the stats at WhoScored, we had the most shots off target in the entire league. Second most total shots. I think Soldado will enjoy his football... Despite all those misses, we had the third most goals from open play in the league.

Fair enough that you don't find AVBs football philosophy aesthetically pleasing, but regarding its effectiveness I think you are off the mark.

Something that hasn't been touched on is that between Kaboul, Lloris and Capoue, when he fills in at CB, we have an all French speaking CB-GK combo. That will help with communication at back, throw Benny into the mix there if he stays.

Well Walker's fucked then! :D

Big, physical, and technical football teams on average tend to do very well in the Premiership, and it's obvious that AVB is trying to emulate Mourinho's original Chavs side in a lot of ways.

We've got a fantastic group of players, but I'm willing to bet that we'll be one of the most boring teams to watch next season. If Bale goes and we don't bring in a decent replacement I can see a lot of 0-0 or 1-1 draws too.

Still looking forward to the new season, and I have a lot of faith in AVB, but I'm not sure how any Spurs fan can say they watched us last season and wasn't concerned at our statuesque movement, and predictable passes. All the technical brawn in the world isn't going to amount to much if there's no brain.

Don't agree with that assessment at all.

Boring can be very subjective though SB. If we actually start playing the way we all think AVB wants us to play - high tempo, higher up the pitch, emphasis on possession of the ball and winning it back more quickly, that will give me much more of a horn than playing end to end slugfests or playing deep and hitting teams on the break.

Watching teams move the ball quickly and efficiently in short transitions gets me more excited than watching 40 yard raking diagonals generally.

Every fan of every sport always wants their team to score more goals/points. They never think last year was enough.

POTL on Capoue...

Everything has NOW been agreed. Agressive midfielder. Franco did well again!

POTL

Hopefully we'll have some confirmation soon regarding a medical or optimistically through the OS today then.

Shame he doesn't really.

You only say that because you form an opinion of players early and refuse to change it despite what they do on the pitch. Last season Dawson was probably our most consistent CB, he worked is way back into AVB's plans and was at fault for us conceding less than any other CB, but don't let that affect your opinion of him not being good enough.

Very likely I'd say. When PoTL posts it is done/agreed then the announcement is often the same day. That is literally as top table as it gets (PoTL). I now take these types of posts from him as official confirmation pretty much.

Good news.

Franco looks like hes paying dividends already, even if JJ hinted the opposite.

I like the idea that we have a football man dealing with these types of things which leaves AVB time to coach.

I'm guessing you have completely overlooked the number of times he has said "done" and nothing materialised after.

Take him (like all other ITKs) with a pinch of salt, it will be better for your sanity.

With Levy at the helm and Baldini's extensive contacts, it does look on paper a match made in heaven and certainly gives us a very strong position at the negotiating table.

Having said that, i'm eager to read LLM's post-transfer window clarification on Sherwood's involvement considering he is up alongside Baldini in the hierarchy.
