If we can keep adding without losing Bale it most definitely is. Even if we lose Bale but replace him with talent that at least is somewhat comparable (i.e. Lamela) and obviously add a CB + LB I don't think I could have foreseen how fantastic this window has been. The great thing is we're adding players that are actually really freaking good and not ones that make you scratch you head and say 'meh.'

My only complaint is still Caulker. If we could bring in a guy like Otamendi it'd go a long way in bringing me around to the whole vision.

In my onion we're three signings away from a true title-challenging team. In order of importance: 1. A CB that can challenge consistently for a starting position next to Jan - Otamendi would be perfect, if a little pricy. 2. A starting LB like Coentrao who can attack but isn't tactically impotent. 3. An LW to challenge Chadli like Ljajic or Willian. Three signings, 10-20m each, and could be mostly funded by outgoings it would enable: Parker, Hudd, Livermore, Townsend/Siggy, Benny, Naughton. Plus we would save a lot on wages. Even if we lost Bale and brought in Lamela, we would be a fundamentally stronger team. Anyway, end rambling :)

Haha, well most of us who are unaware of French football these days have been basing our positive reactions to getting him on your enthusiasm for him, so you better know your shit big guy :D

"I'm not 100% that he's got what it takes to be a fixture in a top EPL team, but he has some good qualities and wouldn't be disappointed if he was brought in or surprised if he stepped up and fulfilled the potential he showed up to now."

That isn't me saying he's nailed on. No player who looks good in a weaker league is guaranteed to make the grade in a tougher one.

He undoubtedly has qualities though. When he was a 20/21yo kid I thought he had a bit of the Viera about him. He sits and protects his defence but can turn defence into attack quickly, passing long and short with both feet and striding forward. Some days he's like Carrick, sitting deep and constantly offering himself and keeping the ball moving.

Last season there were times when he looked a bit lethargic. Not "Hudd" lethargic but a bit less busy. A bit disenfranchised. I put it down to Toulouse's slump and also after Sissoko went Casanova started fucking around with their tried and tested system and moved Capoue further forward and adjusted his well defined (and previously very effective) role and it didn't suit him. Also his natural style can look a bit insouciant at times. He's not slow and he's not lazy.

If I'm honest, if we only had 10m to spend left, with the players we have now, I'd go and buy Rebic or Eriksen. But I like Capoue, I like his skill set. I think if you play him in a cm2 or central in a cm3 I think he could be very good.

Not sure anyone has posted L'Equipe's article, I think it's basically saying a deal is close but things needs ironing out (quelle surprise) but they think he is coming to London in the next couple of days:

E.Capoue vers Tottenham

Cool, I hope he's up for playing CB quite soon (if the T's & C's get done of course)

Cheers for your input JJ (y)

I'm positively giddy at the thought of Capoue, Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele hunting down the Arsenal midfield and eating it for breakfast. Wiltshere pissing his frillies would be the coup de grace

Unlikely to play all 4 of them together though, aren't we? Maybe one of them will have to sit out and be brought off the bench to feed on the scraps when the first 3 have had their fill.

If we do sign this lad, can anyone offer any help with the correct pronunciation?

I'm reading "Ka-poo-ay" (the last syllable rhyming with "hay", "May" etc) every time I see Capoue written down. Very far off the mark?

Was thinking about Capoue at CB but Kaboul could be there instead or as well as to add to the beast count !

I hesitate to reply to this, given that it's got nothing to do with Capoue but the one area where we would still seem a bit light, IMO, is keeper.

Brad is great at what he does. But even his most ardent admirers would have to admit that he isn't the ideal keeper for AVB's preferred style of play. I'd feel much more confident if we had a like-for-like back up for Hugo.
