Yes for me.

I know it can affect league form but I believe if we manage the competition correctly then we can benefit from the competition.

If we aren't going to start 1st team players in an away leg then we need to leave the player in the UK.

We should take a risk of playing a young/weakened side through the group stage. If we progress from there we can start playing a stronger side.

Being in the Europa next season could give valuable playing time to one of our 2 left backs, Yedlin, Carrol, Pritchard and maybe a couple of other young players.

The way we have managed being in the competition in the last few seasons has been detrimental.

I voted yes.

I have never understood why Thursday/Sunday games are more difficult than Wednesday/Saturday which seems to be the main quoted downside.

The Europa does include one extra set of matches for the round of 32 but beyond that if a team can't cope with the Europa then how can they cope with Champions League?

A CL side might have a better squad with a higher number of capable players, that's the only difference in how the teams cope with each of the two tournaments.

This is an important point. We often field a weakened side in the EL, but still keep dragging with us most important first teamers on the journey. Id much rather we let the first teamers that arent supposed to start in EL stay home and get ready for the PL match.

Perhaps.

But it's no less true that the higher quality of the CL (and its greater importance) demands that a club picks its strongest team. So it offers even less opportunity to rest players than the Europa League.

The travel times are also on average longer for EL matches than the CL.

I often see this cited as a primary reason for the EL being more disruptive. But to the extent that it is true, I doubt that the average increased travel time is sufficient to make a material difference to players' performance. We're probably talking about an average increase of less than half an hour.

Purely in terms of the playing squad, there should be no difference in Thursday/Sunday and the CL possibility of Weds/Sat. If we're so incapable of the former that we need to field fringe players then we really should just not bother trying to get into the CL, because what's the point?

I think it's all mentality bollocks anyway, playing three days earlier at home is no excuse for losing to the likes of Newcastle, Stoke or West Brom at home. Not enough of the Spurs squad are winners, that is the crux of the problem.

I'd rather not.

Teams that miss it always seem to be able to skyrocket up the standings the following year when they have more focus on the league.

EL is awesome.

This year I saw Lamela's rabona, Kane's breakthrough, Kane's first hattrick, Kane playing in goal, and the best atmospheres at WHL all season

Anyone who belittles the EL deserves to never see us in the CL again.

We're a proud club, and if we aren't in Europe, we are back in the same league as Sunderland and West Brom

Most definitely Yes.

European football can still draw a certain calibre of players to our club . The europa cup winner qualify for CL. The club generates more revenue, our profile as a club expands there's so many benefits.

exactly we should almost have two squads next year, a league side with our best players, like u said they don't even travel in europe and the coaching staff strictly prepares them for the games on the weekend.
Second squad should look something like vorm fredericks fazio wimmer davies veljkovic Alli caroll Onomah oduwa townsend chadli Ade/soldaldo new striking option, with a little overlap for some of the fringers. This squad should be good enough to get us through the group stages then we will go from there

Problem is how do they get ready for the PL match when the coach and I'm sure some of the players will be away playing on Thursday?

By beeing ready i mean that its better to stay home and be 100% rested for the weekend if they arent gonna start anyways. Travelling across Europe is tiresome in itself, so no point traveling just for the sake of traveling.

You cannot finish in the top 4 of the toughest league in Europe if you take it pretty seriously and get through to the latter stages of the Europa League unless maybe you have the squad of an established CL side

I think the whole competition is designed to keep the same old sides in the CL each season

I've been yes for many years. I've reached the end of my patience with it though. I knew we'd lose to Fiorentina, like I knew we'd lose to Benfica the year before (actually won 60 quid on that one). All of the crap performances that I see on Sundays following Europa league games are only worthwhile if we're not going to limp out as soon as we play a half decent side. If playing a reserve team was an option I'd go for that but I don't think it is. We'd get too much criticism, fans wouldn't bother going to the games and Levy would get the hump.

I am pretty certain that we'd put up a good fight for 4th (at least) if we didn't have the distraction of the Europa league.

Voted yes, I would really like to see us have a good run in this competition, if we can't handle this competition, no way can we handle the CL.

I also wasn't aware that No was the opposite to Yes, so thank you Luke for that useful titbit of information. ;)
