The whole thing stinks but you can’t criticise Levy here. He’s protecting the club’s future.

But if this happens, it will be incredibly sad. And also our trophy drought will continue forever. We’d be the whipping boys of that league.
i dont get that idea.
the only thing that separates us from Mcity chelski or Real is Money. More equal distribution and spending limits will bridge gap between us.

31 years a fan, 19 years between 2001 and Covid of missing just 1 Spurs game in the world home, away abroad, league, Cups, European gamea and friendlies....then Covid and now this ends it all. I'm very very angry, bitter and upset but it would be the end of Spurs for me.

I’m seeing a lot of people say we’d be whipping boys in the ESL. Just purely out of interest, if that’s one of the reasons you’d be against it, aside from the obvious, what are your thoughts on us participating in the CL where we’d likely face those same teams who’d make us whipping boys if we got far enough? Would you rather we played in the EL as we’d have a considerably better chance of winning it? In that case, what makes the CL more appealing than the EL?

I'm not at all against because we would be whooped. As a permanent member, I assume we can't get relegated from it.

My issue is these clubs are selling out the fans. We will be paying much higher prices

I am a big levy fan and we are incredibly lucky to have such a gifted chairmen in charge of the club.

He has been incredibly unlucky in the 20 years because of Chelsea and Man City doping otherwise we would have some more trophies in that cabinet no doubt.

He has made some mistakes which are all well known especially when it came to backing managers that were doing well such as jol, harry and poch but his excellent judgement and decision making made sure we had those managers in the first place. Even leicester have had success due to foreign ownership and spending power.

If this new shit show does happen, we will be thanking levy in many decades to come.

Can't believe I'm reading people saying things like "well this is happening eventually so I'd rather Levy has us in it than out of it".

Sounds like a guy who gets horribly bullied by his "friends" but continues to hang out with them even though they all gang up on him and treat him like shit because he's glad that he is at least invited to the party.

The thing is, by the time you play the BIG Boys, It's knockout football with away goals etc.

I mean that's the thing, I don't actually care if a super league were to happen, and the clubs kicked out of their domestic league. In part because it would detoxify domestic football and in part because I think there is a reasonable chance of it going horribly wrong. I just don't want us in it. Let the money clubs have their little games and good riddance to them. I just don't want to be one of those clubs.

You only have to look at the number of people on this forum who post/care about Spurs being "a laughing stock" to realise there are a lot of that guy about.

create their own new English elite top league, inviting another 6-10 English ( maybe even incorporate the 2 Glasgow clubs) TV would be all over it, it really just ends up restructuring top level football with new organisations. As long as there is some sort of promotional access to the so called lesser clubs it would probably work and with time be grudgingly accepted.

Football as we know it would just continue to evolve as at has done for the last 20-30 years. But with the major difference that the big clubs dominate the new financial structures, and like it or not that's what all the big clubs want, who after all invest the big bucks and from a business point of view draw the most income from external sources ( TV & advertising etc).

You know I think it might hurt the big clubs.

People want to watch competitive football where there is drama and the chance for an upset.

This is just a money grab and I think it will back fire.

I'm against the idea, but the Premier League's statement is laughable. The PL doesn’t give two fucks about lower leagues. If it did, the leading clubs and PL wouldn't have tried, last year, to strong-arm the rest of the league into approving financial aid for lower-league clubs on the condition of handing those top clubs even more power.

Wasn't the point that the rest of the PL voted it down though?
