I'm rather glad we weren't the first to pull out, as I have absolutely no doubt there'd be references to "bottling it" and "oh no! not spurs. That'll show them" or somesuchlike...

I’m hoping we are the last to stay in, then we might win the thing!

It won't be the best thing for everybody. If the big boys go off and form their own closed league then UEFA's competitions would basically become the Minor League Baseball to the ESL's Major League Baseball. This is about creating franchise football.
And that would be the best solution for us working class match going fans.Less money less tv less bling more grass roots old school football.

I'm disappointed none of our players have spoken up. Jordan Henderson and the Liverpool players have handled this brilliantly.
Really impressed by Henderson, Milner, Radford and Shaw. It’s a pity that we don’t have similar strong characters at our club. Maybe that goes some way to explain our insipid performances on the pitch.

'domestic league'?

I'm starting to believe that too many people don't understand it's just an alternative Champions League - not a new continental, multi-nation, league.

I'm starting to believe ESL supporters don't understand how their super league makes the PL worth less. If we're out of the title race by Christmas then we might as well sack off the rest of the league season as our place in Europe is no longer dependent on league positioning. Real value for money for season ticket holders.

I said this yeaterday but say this again - the term hypocrisy keeps being bandied about. Hypocrisy about being hypocritical etc. Sorry but in the grand scheme of things I am sure we have all been guilty of hypocrisy one way or another in our lives and one form or another but doesnt mean in this instance that those who are voicing their opinions are incorrect .

The matter at hand is the ESL not someone being hypocritical.
Indeed it’s a distraction rather then trying to clarify ones own position. Particularly as there is, well a lot of hypocrisy on this thread.

As bad as the ESL idea is, it's not as if the situation at the moment is football utopia.

The whole sport is completely dominated by money, those that spend the most, finish highest and get all the trophies. Outside of Chelsea, City, Utd, Liverpool most of the clubs in the epl have 0 chance of knocking them off their perches consistently. As long as the ownership structures are allowed to continue as they are, and stolen state funds are allowed into the game then the game has no credibility anyway.

None of sky, bt, epl, the fa, uefa give a damn about fans. And it's sickening to see them spew their propaganda all day long to make sure their own financial interests are protected at all costs.

I don't want a super league, or anything that takes away competition, but something needs to change if fairness in sports is actually what fans genuinely want.

Because this league would be the major European competition, run by the owners of the founding clubs, these founding clubs would "select" the next clubs every year to join. You can bet your house this selection would be based on potential income gained rather than on merit of achievement. If this had of went through domestic leagues would be meaningless outside of the winners. Its no where near an alternative to a merit earned system if you don't agree you don't understand what it is the super league was suggesting.

It's no surprise that Chelsea and City have pulled out. They had by far the least to gain with the Super League, and indeed may have lost some of the advantage that they currently enjoy due to financial doping. The Super League was to be structured like an American league, with paltry amounts given as prize money and a relatively equal distribution of profits to all clubs, not to mention the 55% spending cap which would have meant that none of the founding clubs could have vastly outspent the others.

City and Chelsea were reported to be the last to be convinced to join and probably only did so because they felt there was no other way of staying within the elite. The structure of the competition doesn't really suit them and I'm sure they're happy to carry on spending unlimited sums bearing absolutely no relation whatsoever to the revenues the clubs actually generate, which they could not have done under the rules governing the Super League. Not sure how much praise they really deserve for pulling out.

It’s a shame the the parliamentary review will be absolutely toothless.
