If we lose on Saturday reckon he'll resign
This was Klopp's team when he joined Liverpool.I am struggling to think of a word-class manager that has gone to manage a side in a situation like ours and polish the turd as prolifically as you are making out. Can you name 3 situations where that has happened?
Klopps first 3/4's of a season at Liverpool they ended up finishing 8th and lost
2-1 to palace
2-0 to Newcastle
2-0 to west ham
3-0 to Watford
3-2 to Southampton
3-1 to Swansea
He also just about beat Norwich 5-4 and drew twice with West Brom and once with Sunderland.
Things take time.
His time was up a long time ago, he is the polar opposite of a winning mentality.I wish Levy made the comments instead of Conte. His time is up.
You didn't see the win against Man City at their ground then ? Whose fault was that ?He is a world class manager but results & performances have not shown that with us. His childish ranting after games is very tiring and very very unhelpful. That sort of behaviour can be tolerated if he is being successful (and I get that he is much less likely to rant about things when winning but he has shown at inter and Chelsea even when winning he will still find things to rant about) but given our poor return he simply needs to shut up and do the job he's paid to do which is improve the players and win football matches.
Of course I want him to stay and hope he can achieve things here but I'm already pretty tired listening to his shite as well. He is as culpable as anyone for our poor performances and the losses as he is wedded to a system that we don't have the players to do it properly. The club has backed him hugely (getting rid of Dele, Ndombele and lo Celso in the one window was huge backing and show of faith in him) but he has yet to repay that show of faith so I hope he learns to dial it down and do the job he was employed to do. If he can't do that then as humiliating as it would be for him and club he should go in the summer.
Agreed. I listened to the interview - again it was nothing like what the media are making it out to be.
That would be ideal but they probably don't want to come here and I'm not sure who else is similar and atttainable. We could probably get Lage since we like Mendes so much, or Hasenhuttl. Maybe Rooney who could do the impossible this season. Hope we do something like that after Conte wins something with us next year.I can’t help feel we need a Poch mark 2 , like they’ve done up the road , someone with a clear identity and long term vision with a philosophy. We can’t give huge funds to a manager that could walk with 24 hours notice . Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing more I’d love than levy give Conte the 4/5 players he needs in the summer and we hit the ground running next season and we have Conte here for the next 5 years but history tells me it’s not going to happen . I wouldn’t be upset if we went down the Ten Hag / Potter route with a manager that would love to be at a club like Tottenham as opposed to one that feels he is too big for us .
You ok Hun? Need a hug ;-)World class managers get more out of limited players and make more out of less.
At the moment Conte has two of the best attackers in the PL and is making us look like a relegation side. That’a not a world class manager.
Unfortunately Lloris is very keen to stay on his line these days. He could solve a lot kf these set piece issues by dominating the box more.
Agree with all of this. Which despite how much the majority disliked Jose, he was 100% when he said the club has deep rooted issues that can’t be fixed by him alone. Not having a dig, but we seriously need to get rid of this mentality.
It's down to the quality of the players and the players alone that we are so inconsistent.
Poch, Mourinho, Nuno and now one of the best in the world Conte can't get a tune out of them for more than a short spell.
We need gutting from top to bottom and that has nothing to do with any of the managers who have tried.
It does not say anything about Conte "The Man", it shows how piss poor our recruitment has been for years already.
No matter who is in charge, it will never change the fact that most of the current team is mid level quality at best and need replacing.
Even Klopp had to have a major clear out when he arrived at Pool, even if it took a couple years to get right. We need to show Conte the same faith.
I reckon he always thought he was going to get top 4 this season and his entire plan was built around that. But now he's realised that isn't happening and he can't be bothered with the long haul.
Which, on the surface, is why fans get annoyed at ENIC. Without knowing the full ‘truth’ as it were, it’s info like this that reinforces this notion that we will win nothing with ENIC in charge, as they don’t see the financial upside in making the investment required. It reinforces that it’s all about the Benjamins for them. They want financial success more than glory on the pitch. Or, so it would seem. And if that is indeed true, I’d be thrilled for a similar buyer to come in, but who might be more invested in the glory part of owning a club the size of Spurs. Its a simple strategy. Find underdeveloped, underprivileged areas of large urban centres and build large developments with the aim of significantly increasing land values and hence the underlying asset. This is augmented by sweating the asset while waiting for these land values to increase. This is what ENIC have done and all power to them for doing its...they are after all an investment company. That is their first and highest priority imo....I just don't see them prioritising footballing titles or CL , given the large investment required and with little hope of success.
He's not wrong...
