I have a niggling feeling that Antonio Conte and Tim Sherwood are quite different calibres of manager.

Can’t quite put my finger on it.

Just an inkling.

Yeah agree. Conte is more around AVB levels of shit than the bottom of the barrel Sherwood for me.

More fog. No he hasn't changed things. So how does that help? He's failed. He deserves to go, he needs to go. There. But big fucking deal. His job, the last managers job or the one before him, fuck it., the next one too. They'll all fail. But all you're doing is making it about something else.

He was spot on with what he said. You can couch it however you like and it doesn't change that. He was spot on.

I bet he wins something next season at his new club. They all do.

Good coaches improve their players though. Has he improved anyone?

To me it looks like the players don't believe in the system. I wonder if there's a communication issue as well. I've seen a few interviews with Conte where he answers a totally different question to the one he's been asked. I'm not sure he's doing it on purpose.
Go and watch videos of some of the goals we scored last season under the same coach. Dekis goal at City (when Conte posted counter attack - maybe not!), Kanes winner - there is video of that somewhere showing all the build up passes, we out-cited City with that goal. There were many others where it wasn't just counter-attack but good passing and movement, Conte's system works if you execute it.

True, one of them, who calls out the ambition of our club, brings on Davinson Sanchez for Dejan Kulusevski when we are one man down and desperately need a goal.

Contes reputation speaks for himself, but that is making to many blind that he is done next to fuck all at our club, a good spell in April and May last year aside.

I think Conte said what most of us saw over the last few years at the club, and it's also implicit why he is a bad fit here.

My take of it is that he said the players lacked motivation. However by distancing himself from the board and the sqaud, he essentially sees it as NOT his job to motivate the players. I think this is likely an unnnecesary skill at his other clubs (which is why he said this is the first time he has seen it in his career) because say at Chelsea, the ability difference between the starting 11 and the bench is small. Since anyone can compete for a spot with anyone else, the players who dont get to play will see their careers dwindle, so they will self-motivate more. This isn't the case here at our club.

When DL makes his next appointment, this is something he can take note of. Conte/Mourinho types are too soon for us.

100%. Conte and Mourinho unquestionably know how to win trophies. They were never going to win titles with us, and personally I really disliked their style of play.

But if you keep changing manager and getting the same results, maybe the problem is you.

And by "you" I mean Levy. Not A&C.
Or do I?!

I haven't been a fan of Conte this year from a managerial perspective, but I liked this press conference a lot. There are things he could have handled differently (emotions probably got the better of him) or worded differently, but there is also a lot of truths to what he said.

I think it's a gamble. He's either getting sacked as a result of this (either a Levy reaction or players give up on him), or this lights a serious fire under the squad and generates the momentum to finish the season strong.

There are very few at the club who are not to blame for the current predicament, and Conte certainly has done his fair share of damage. Under him we've become a boring, easy to counter, defensive team with very little fight and next to no tactical flexibility.

That said he's had success with his brand of football previously and is a born winner. He can make his system work, but it takes a club and squad with a very driven mentality to do it, which we don't have.

His performance and suitability for us aside, he's spot on with his assessment of both the club and our squad. There's a core player set that we need to shift before anything can be achieved.

*or when it not has been found out by about 50% of the managers we face.

Take away the goals from set pieces this season and look how much we create. With a front line of Kane, Son, Richarlison and Kulusevski... bags of quality

I'm about 20 pages behind and he might already be gone by now but I just want to say - hats off to you Antonio, put some heat on that greedy little **** on your way out. Fucking great interview

A lot of people are getting annoyed at Conte and his comments and I am just sitting here feeling nothing. Total apathy towards the club, the manager and the players. None of them seem to care so Im starting to wonder why should we? Never felt like this before towards Spurs and its such a shame.

Listen from 4th minute on, he is 100% calling out the players more than he is Levy. And I agree with him!

Spurs media like Ali Gold, Dan Kilpatrick, Charlie Eccleshare, Jack Pitt-Brooke etc. constantly dig out the manager as soon as things go wrong and never once question if the players are good enough.

It's become quite clear, as Conte says, that it doesn't matter one bit who the manager is because the players just aren't good enough! They dont have the ability, the heart, the mindset or the balls to win anything!

Please god this finally sinks in with people and we sent a huge chunk of these players packing, as we wont get anywhere with them.

He's bang on the money. Levy is the problem - and there isn't a manager in the world he can appoint that is going to turn this club into a serial winner with him still in place.

Conte delivering some uncomfortable home truths for this club.

If you think the problem goes when Conte leaves you are very much mistaken!
So are you saying he shouldn't go? We know we have ownership issues but this is the Conte thread.
