I'm more excited now than I was before the match. I'm still hopeful we'll get a replacement for Modric, and either Adebayor or possibly another striker as well.

My main concern was whether or not our players would be able to adapt to AVB's style of play. Today was obviously not the finished article but they looked a lot further along than I thought they would be.

Some of you here talk about new era or dawn that a new manager have come to the helm with a long term plan.
I really do not see the reason for such an excitement..
It looks like we are going to dusk and Medieval times than a new era to me.
The manager u r all excited about has the experience of less than 3 years in managing professional football.
Our best player is going to Real
We have only 2 striker - Defoe and Kane - nothing to be expected from them.
It seems that all the quality players are trying to avoid us, except for Moutinho that he is willing to join us but 30 mil price tag for him is ridiculous.

Few of you will say I am pessimistic, I am saying thats realistic.

Not excited but encouraged.
I think we should wait until the end of the window before we judge the new regime.

Excited before the game, and until the penalty but now thoroughly pissed off. Sick of seeing us lose games against sides that aren't as good as us and if we had completed our dealings already we would have strolled to victory today, absolutely strolled.

We should has won as it is, but had we been able to field the players we are alleged to be bringing in once ratboy goes we would have utterly pissed this game today. Still, let's posture and play games. So annoyed at the fact we seem to never learn our lesson regarding transfers.

I can understand if we pull the plug on Adebayor but u just know he will be a Tottenham player within the next week or so. If we had him today we would never have lost, would have probably won. Given we missed CL by an effing point last season we would take EVERY game seriously. Seems like we are content to say 'hey, it's early days, nothing is decided yet, let's save a few hundred grand and leave it as late as poss'

Effing corner shop mentality in a world full of supermarkets.

Adebayor signing is not our only problem, few weeks ago we were talking about siging 2 quality strikers, so now you have downgraded us to one?
Not to mention another big problem - Modric replacemnet.

I was excited before the game but the match was so depressing and our performance so profoundly anaemic, interest is waning.

Also, the game plus the Huddlestone business has actually worried me. As much as we can rationalize his Chelsea spell and disregard some of these early results and actions as outliers etc. There are legitimate questions about Villas Boas. And in today's game it occurred to me just how out on a limb we might me.

I'm sure it'll be fine, but i'd be lying if I said the a dark and gaping chasm didn't flicker on the screen today for a moment.

no ive come to that conclusion after preseason and talking to someone who works at chelsea and told me what sort of man avb is.

This has been talked endlessly.
There were reasons for what went on at Chelsea...not all of them down to AVB.
Perhaps part of his persona at Chelsea was exaggerated due to having been a menial there under Mourinho and so being a bit too strident too soon there.
This has all been said.
Maybe the person at Chelsea you spoke to got outta line and got the rough end of his tongue, or something...you can't just here one side of events and belief it at face value.

For what it is worth, I thought, with players to come in/missing yesterday at one of the hardest away games to go to, the team who finihsed fifth and where they lost one game in the league all last season, we were fecking excellent in the first half, excellent. And passable in the second half, too. We lost to one moment of brilliance and a penalty that, in case anyone didn't realise it, was conceded while we were down to ten men as Sandro was off the pitch - which could have changed the whole dynamic of who and how many were on the side they took there corner, and how Lennon/VDV went in if they had closed cover in the penalty area.

As others have said, I am more excited than ever now, because I thought that was a really positive display.

I thought we played well and were the better team, in the pub after the game we met some Newcastle fans who thought the same. Its looking promising.
