I was there, IIRC it was the first time we ever lost an FA Cup Final. This was also on ITV4 the other day, they must be repeating it a couple of times a week until they hit the next batch........think i'll swerve again :D

I sat and watched Greavsie last night (have it saved on my box) Was laughing and crying at the same time. Some really great reminders of how much he was the greatest at the time. Some great memories of football from WHL.

I'd rather drill holes in my forehead than watch it, after all these years I haven't fully got over it

Walking out of Wembley at full time, well lets just say I've been to more cheerful funerals

I was at the match, and just about every match that season of heart break.

League Cup Semi finals. Arsenal - won at Highbury, Lost twice at home.

1st Division : Probably our best tilt at the title in my lifetime before Poch - the wheels came off with too many postponements, replays plus the usual dropped points at home while doing the business away from home.

FA Cup Runners Up - Came out of Wembley. Never watched a rerun or highlights, anything.
I'm in permanent denial about that day.

The only cup final I've missed since 1971 (I was 9 then). Even missed the first half on TV due work. Like others, have never watched a re-run.

My 2nd visit to Wembley having been to watch Hull KR the year before.
KR lost to a last min drop goal we then lost to an own goal.
I refused to go to a Wembley again to see us play until 2012 the semi v chelsea - fuck that was a mistake 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yep so was I, 9 years old.
Clive scored really early then Mabbs with the own goal in extra time.
My first real mental scar that one.

As a young kid back then, I latched on to Gary Mabbutt's own goal and blamed him for it all - a negative view that festered for longer than I care to admit.

I'd love to meet the guy some day, shake his hand and thank him for being such a legend for us! I'd like to think I've at least learned to forgive and forget a bit more easily since I was young.
