Is it just me or is FB depressing as ****
I hope he gets his head around all this and moves on with his life.
At 31 he hasn't got much more top flight football left in him - I hope he realises this and makes the most of the time he has left in the game.

If nothing else, this shows that money isn't his first priority. He could've made a fortune if he'd saved this for his autobiography, but he's posting it on Facebook for free. Bet his agent is going mental.

If I am writing this, the main purpose is not to expose my family members. I just want other African families to learnfrom this. Thank you."

Yeah, because this is a massive problem for your average African family.

This is actually a problem within many wealthy Africans who leave the continent, they are expected to make money to bring back to the family.

Its an issue everywhere. Quite a few stories of athletes going bankrupt here in America due to their families draining their bank accounts.

I feel for the guy in terms of some of the bad shit that's happened to him, but he's been earning in excess of 5m a year for the last 5-6 years and about 3m a year before that. I don't mean "he's rich so how dare he complain about problems" I mean he's not a kid and he's very, very rich so he can afford the help he needs with some of them, be that psychological, legal, financial etc

The club definitely have a duty of care for their staff, but this is a 31yo multi millionaire we are talking about, not an academy kid, and he also has an agent/personal manager who's got a duty (and a vested financial interest) to his client who's been paying him 5% of that fortune for 10 years possibly who could also help him and advise him.

The guy needs some psychological help for sure, but he can afford the best and it sounds like the club have been supportive (giving him time off to sort out his personal problems etc) despite paying him a fortune to do a job.

Half of that goes into charities in Togo too.

Tbh I'm loving this series and want more as it's intriguing, informative and educational (as our Ade intended).

Feel for the guy though; from day one he's had to deal with craven family members desperate to milk him, using extreme emotional blackmail to do so as they know they can lean on his expected obligations to aid his loved ones.

Nothing is ever enough and they view his wealth as unlimited and inexhaustible. That's some very emotionally tiring shit right there. Fuck that for a game of millionaires.

Yeah but don't forget...

"If I am writing this, the main purpose is not to expose my family members. I just want other African families to learn from this. Thank you."

Even though i'm going to specifically call them out individually.

Hmmm yeah ... Not so sure about that anymore tbh. Read deep into his revelations & it sounds suspiciously like these 'charities' & 'foundations' that we've been led to believe he's set up in Togo are in fact family vehicles as opposed to charities you & I would recognize as such

I got no problem with him calling them out in the process; their behaviour is disgusting.

I imagine just like any story there are 2 (or more) sides to it

This in response to the family's accusations that were levied against him. In what he has said he has named a lot of people still involved in the game that could easily refute some of the things (letters to the club to get him sacked, phones being stolen by his brother, etc.)

Apparently he asked ManC to pay 50k a week to his charity - not sure if he intended that to come out of his £170k pw or not ?

That's 8.8m per year he earned at City for his 34 appearances over his 4 year (35.2m) contract.
