Weren't Commoli and Pleat advisors at the time? Probably one of them.
There was ITK saying they were advisers, if they were advisers the heat is still on Levy because he sacked both of them because he didn't deem them good enough but yet is taking advice from them.

Dick he sack either because he didn't trust them though, or because he didn't have a choice at the time? Pleat went after taking over as caretaker coach and having a mediocre season, and was replaced with an entirely new set-up. Did Commoli go because of the Ramos appointment, or because Harry wouldn't work with him?

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad neither are near any kind of advisory capacity any more!

Dembele fit the mould for a Spurs signing though. Young and talented, not quite top level but on the occasion shows signs of it. The logic behind signing him was sound the problem - and I have Belgian colleagues who have said the same to me - is that when he feels like playing he can do anything he wants but those games are few and far between.

Personally, I don't think Dembele is really that bothered if he ever plays for a Real Madrid or in the Champions League etc

I know he wanted him, I don't know about 90 million. The Telegraph report us being interested in doing a 30 million deal with Zenit looking for 40 million.

I was joking.
I think the papers were quoting £75 million. Could have been paper talk or put out by the Ruskies as an opening gambit, or as sale price, or just to frighten us off.

Every Brazil game in the WC, I sat repeating: "Hulk is the worst player I have ever seen...and Fred is even worse!" :)

I certainly didn't rate him but AVB did and if he thinks that, he has to be backed if it's possible. If the coaches judgement isn't trusted then no way should he be in the job.

I think that Ferdinand comes across as a bit of a wanker lol (coupled with all that defensive midfielder crap they spouted).

You mean the defensive midfielder crap that Ferdinand said and was completely misinterpreted and turned against Sherwood? The crap that people twisted to mean they didn't rate defensive midfielders at all?

But if Levy really trusted Pleat then he would have gone back to his old job and as for Commoli I would say it was both but more because of the Ramos appointment Levy said Commoli would have to take responsibility if it did not work out.

Like it or not, Levy has established a Continental-Lite system at the Lane. AVB was Head Coach, just the same as Pochettino is Head Coach. Further, both spoke publicly, on appointment, about being used to that particular system, comfortable in that system, and happy to operate under that system. I leave Sherwood out - probably doesn't know where The Continent is :) If any of our Head Coach's is uncomfortable with this set-up, they have to speak up (and not publicly back the system). Mr Redknapp was adamant that he would only come as ye olde style manager - in order to employ him, Levy had to put the Continental system into abeyance (he didn't have any choice, Redknapp wouldn't work any other way).

As you know, from countless discussion with other posters, if the Head Coach is limiting his input in that system by insisting on players he knows we can't afford, that is a bind he is putting himself in. I'm fairly certain there was ITK at the start of the Summer that Pochettino not only signed off on a list of players to go for, but also the maximum prices to be paid for them.

I don't think we could afford Hulk's price plus wages, and I have serious doubts that he wold have succeeded in this league, either.

I think AVB was a bit uncomfortable with the setup in his first, he said in the beginning he wanted a DOF brought in but that request wasn't listened to in his first season. I think when we missed out on a few players he diplomatically said the club has had good success in the transfer but the club need to bring in a DOF.

I don't really buy this theory that some posters have that AVB was some kind of nutcase living in fantasy land with the players he wanted. I think the board were not honest with him and led him to believe that his choices were possible. He said as much in his criticisms of the board when he left.

Levy if he really believed in the continental setup should have stuck with it and not brought in Redknapp even though the appointment worked out to a large degree, when Redknapp left the first thing he should have done was bring in a DOF who would advise him who the next manager should be.
