David Moyes has reportedly accepted the manager’s job at Manchester United, just hours after Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement.
For almost as long as Moyes has been manager of Everton, he has been touted as the next manager at Old Trafford, and now the media seem to have finally got their way.
After 11 years in charge, which included three Europa League runs (two which lasted more than one round) and an FA Cup final, Moyes has brought stability to Goodison Park when it was sorely needed.
The Scotsman leaves behind a much better squad than that which he inherited, which means the next Everton manager will not have as big a task to complete in order to bring trophies back to the Blues.

David Moyes will replace Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager

David Moyes will be announced as Manchester United's new manager within the next 24 hours as the Premier League champions aim to move quickly to appoint Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at Old Trafford.

The announcement of Ferguson's retirement has prompted a frenzy of money being placed on the Everton manager to succeed the 71 year-old.

And Telegraph Sport understands that Moyes, whose contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of the season, has already been identified as Ferguson's successor and will be confirmed before United's next game, on Sunday, against Swansea.

Despite long-term speculation linking Jose Mourinho with the manager's job at Old Trafford in the event of Ferguson's retirement, the former Chelsea manager lacks support among the higher echelons of the United hierarchy.

Moyes's record at Everton since arriving from Preston North End in March 2002 lacks a trophy, or experience of Champions League football beyond the qualifying rounds, but the Scot's readiness to build teams and promote youth is understood to be central to United's decision to recruit the 50 year-old.

Ferguson's elevation to a position on the United board ensures that the two men will be in a regular contact at Old Trafford, but the pair's strong relationship, which saw Moyes offered the job as Ferguson's assistant in 1999-2000, is likely to prevent friction between the manager's office and the boardroom.

Moyes won the LMA Manager Year of the award 3 times, more than any ever other manager has - and that's an award you can't just buy, it's voted for by the other managers.

Look at his transfer business at Everton also

Rooney - sold for £28m. Rodwell sold for £15m. Lescott bought for £5.5, developed then sold for £25m. Development of Rooney, Lescott, Baines, Jagielka, Osman, Rodwell - all uncapped, developed into full England internationals at Everton. Cahill, Pienaar, Fellaini ,Arteta and Coleman all developed into top PL players

Lot of people under-estimating him

the Lampard to Man Utd rumours make sense now

Lampard has been wanking all over Mourinho today.

Frank Lampard has described Jose Mourinho as "one of, if not the, greatest manager in world football" and that it would be a "great thing for the club" if he was appointed Chelsea manager.

The Chelsea midfielder reckons Mourinho is the better manager but says Sir Alex Ferguson is "a god of football."
"I say Jose Mourinho is the greatest. I think him and Fergie for longevity [are the best managers]. What he has done for so many years, I love him. Man United are a competitive club against us but when I look at Alex Ferguson as an individual and what he has done he's an absolute god of football."
