I feel for him as its one shit show after the other.

However its his job still manage the team and get results! Its not like we are exclusively alone with the covid/international travel/player injury issues. A lot of managers are currently facing them

I really hope he doesn't and his apologists out there don't use these as excuses IF we have bad run of results over the next 4/5 weeks as to me. He cant keep hiding behind excuses after every awful performance or result.
I've really grown to hate the term "apologist" when used on SC.
I find it unnecessarily insulting when used against fellow fans who decide to support the manager.

Maybe refer to them as 'Nuno supporters' instead, it's less aggressive.

(this comment isn't aimed solely at you by the way, it's been building for a fair while now).

Its not exactly like there are any Nunonistas about either. It's just either people who clearly want him out now or people who want him to get a chance.

And then there's the people like me, who are as yet unconvinced by him but believe he should be given a chance to prove himself to us, and that means more than 7 games. I learned my lesson because after 7 games, I wanted Poch out.

That was the latter group. I don't think that there are many, if any Nuno fan boys out there like admittedly there were with Jose. It's either people that want him gone or those that feel he needs a chance like yourself.

I get what your saying there but I would say that whilst he hosts those pre match interviews he is the face of the club and represents what peoples perception of the club will be. A good leader should recognise that and galvanise the whole club through the way he portrays himself
Just like Poch who was unable to answer a straight question with a straight answer ?

don’t get me wrong I’m a huge fan of Poch and thankful for his time at Spurs, but I didn’t reference him in the statement at all. That’s purely my thoughts on what a leader should be, be that in football or any business

Irrespective of the ' group ' I haven't seen anyone make a convincing argument of who would take his place before next summer anyway. I really don't think another Ryan Mason spell is the answer so, by default, I feel we should stick with Nuno this season failing getting sucked into a potential relegation battle.

But if one isn’t an apologist, or a fanboy, or a happy clapper, or a bastard son, can one even actually exist?

I'd prefer if Nuno didnt whine so much or come out with pre match excuses or laments about difficulties. Just get on with it and keep your chin up. As another poster said above, the thing we'll all be looking for is a similar shape and effort to the Villa game, rather than some new formula of stodgy midfield bullshit we had in our 3 goal tonkings. Newcastle aren't up to much despite all the new headlines, so let's get our heads right and impose ourselves on the occasion.

Apparently not. We seem to have quite a self-entitled majority now that can't accept that we are who we are and not (*insert oil club*) or what we were when they played Fifa or Football manager. And don't mention what Levy has done to bring us from the Scholar years to what we have now.

You're being a bit of a dick here. Most dissatisfaction is that we are not the side we were for 4 seasons running in the recent past, not that we're not a state-owned club or a computer game. Not many sides have strategically blundered the way we have these last 3-4 seasons. We were Liverpool's equal back then, and they haven't needed oil money or delusion to build on their progress and realize their ambitions.

You can be happy with our lot and argue in favour of it if you like. But your straw man argument isn't helping to make that case.

praise be to Levy. Criticism is for the self entitled. How much for a ticket to to a game nowadays btw?

Really glad Nuno was able to pick the same XI again, he’s had rotten luck with the Kane situ, injuries and international player issues but having a consistent XI is very important in building something.

Villa game and for 35 mins today after the first 10 mins we’ve looked pretty decent.

Credit also switching to a 4-2-3-1 with Ndombele as CAM instead of flat 4-3-3.

Play like this for most the rest of the season and we will win far more than we lose and the fans will be entertained.

Positive signs that hopefully continue.

Frustrating to not see changes made when I think we needed it, but I think there were more positives to our play than negatives today and I would say it's a step forward, even if it was 'only Newcastle'.

It was only Newcastle, but I don’t think there could be a more difficult time to play them than today.

We spoilt the Saudi party, and showed the right mentality throughout.

Lots of positives.

Making no subs was reckless though.

I think this could have easily become a banana skin given the circumstances.

Today I saw some clear patterns of play and some very good possession play to find space between the lines. I'm optimistic that we're making progress
