I guess loan with an option would be low risk, but I’m still not convinced he really brings much that we don’t already have…

Barcelona’s Franck Kessié is set to decide whether he wants to join Tottenham Hotspuror Juventus. The Italian club have agreed an initial loan deal for the midfielder, but with an option for the transfer to become permanent if undisclosed conditions are met. However, Tottenham hope that the 26-year-old wants to move to the Premier League as he played in Italy for seven years for AC Milan, Cesena and Atalanta from 2015 to 2022. He has been part of Barcelona’s pre-season tour of the United States, but only started seven of his 28 La Liga matches last season.

Gary Jacob
Surely not 🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree but given it’s Gary Jacob I’m confused as he’s normally really good isn’t he?

Would stink of another 'Club' aka 'Paratici' signing.

I don’t think this is real. We have fuck loads of midfielders.
We’ve been told very consistently that if PEH leaves we would want a new signing to replace him… Kessie doesn’t feel like the perfect fit but maybe being available on loan frees up extra budget for the CBs we actually want? I’d rather compromise on a fifth-choice midfielder than a starting CB if that’s what it comes down to.

I am quite surprised by the negativity & misinformation here on Kessie.

Kessie is not injury prone and in fact one of the most fit & available player in top5 league in last 5 years. He has missed just 7 games in his entire club career. He had a 5 week muscle injury last season which coincided with WC break but otherwise he rarely misses games. Always the last one to walk of the pitch .

Kessie 1v1 defending is very good, good no 8 or 6, very good penalty taker (we need a reliable taker after Kane) and goal threat from midfield. And he isn’t a slow either .

His technical play isn’t greatest but isn’t the worst either- good enough for Barca to sign him.

Also , he is leadership material. Had he signed a new deal , Milan wanted him to be club captain.

In my eyes, Kessie for Hojbjerg is an upgrade. Sure we can do better than Kessie. But I am not going to be negative if we do sign him.
Spot on

I just don’t see it. Especially with LoCelso likely to stay and Sarr impressing. Plus we don’t know if Tanguy will stay too. Skipp will definitely be in the squad as well.

As I said earlier in this thread, it stinks if agents using our name to get interest in the player.

I don't get the hate here. He would be a very good option as Skipp just isn't cut out for the EPL imo. This whole idea of a starting 11 is absolutely cave brain to me. Yes there is a best 11 but having options to rotate based on opposition is what we should strive for!

We were linked years ago and people shat the bed when we didn't sign him! He would absolutely help us in the long run.

If Ange wants to keep GLC and maybe give Ndombele a chance we don't have any room for non HG, especially with the top choice CBs we're after. Can't see there being anything in this link.

bearing in mind our HG issues, surely Phil Billing of Bournemouth would be a better move??

one year left on his contract, classed as HG, dm who can also score goals, 27 and used to the EPL.

I really don’t rate kessie and he is on huge wages.

I like him

He's like watching a dad in a father son match. So much stronger than everyone else with bugger all pace. His favourite trick is to get right up close to his opponent and bully them off the ball and he'sexcellent at it without ever doing anything rash. His passing, position, awareness are very good too.

You can imagine his son not speaking to him for weeks afterwards.

Absolutely.

I think maybe with Bentancur's recovery, Ange has taken the view of bringing in a no.6 and use Bissouma as his pressing 8 with Sarr / Skipp as understudies.

It's so important we can protect that back 4.

As a 6 Kessie skill set is perfect, and also greatly helps with leadership void in the XI.

He's a Hojbjerg upgrade that won't cost us any budget this year.

It buys us a year to see how Bentancur has recovered, and how Devine, Skipp, and Sarr have developed.

Lo Celso could play minutes as the pressing 8 - but his best position in this system is in Maddison's role.

So there's less value keeping Ndombele as 3rd choice to Maddison whilst we're also lighter for top tier no.6s and pressing 8s.

So sell Hojbjerg and Ndombele, reinvest in CBs, then go like this until Bents recovers and loan out Sarr/Skipp in Jan.

Maddison/Lo Celso Kessie/Skipp Bissouma/Sarr
