Interesting player, no doubt....but, "the brightest talent since Diego Maradona"?!
Wonder if Mr. Staff Writer has heard, say, Messi, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo etc., etc....

Spurs in for the new Maradona 6th August 2007
By Staff Writer

Tottenham are amongst a host of clubs interesting in signing the brightest talent to come out of South America since Diego Maradona.
18 year old Argentine Franco Di Santo is set to arrive in the UK this week with a view to deciding which of the club's seeking to obtain his services he will join.
The 6ft 4in striker currently plays for Audax Italiano in Chile and has been described as the new Maradona.
According to reports over the weekend, Di Santo will meet with Spurs representatives this week but Tottenham are certainly not alone in their interest in the youngster who is also set for talks with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Blackburn and Manchester City.

I can't help but chuckle at Mr S. Writer ("Staffy" to his mates) using the words "6ft 4in" & "new Maradona" in the same sentence.

I think Maradona thought he was 6ft 4 when he was coked up. Maybe thats what staffy meant.

Anyway, I think we could fill about 4 pages with the New Maradonas that have emerged in the last 15 years out of Argentina, only for none of hem to be as good.

i think Messi is going to actually come pretty close. As for the other 1001 that have been dubbed as the next diego its crazy. if he is a striker that size why not compare him to Batistuta, he wasnt half bad!

Next Maradona or not, even if he signs for us he'll get his work permit application turned down and will end up in Spain, or at Man U as they rarely get turned down.

Erm does he have a grand parent from Portugal? Or would he never get a work permit like a certain Defendi?

You are right, Batistuta aka Batigol  is the greatest Argentine striker ever so I suppose he can't be that bad.

No disservice to either...signature or Donny. But for size and the ability to devastate an opponent physically...not to mention score a hatfull...there is only one...Mario Kempes.

Not that either can be sneezed at
